Does anyone here have Austar ?

I just wanted to know because i've heard that they are going to pull the plug on the entire operation (including Pay TV), because of a massive debt incurred by the company in Queensland.

If the worst comes to the worst and the creditors and recievers cancel Austar's PayTV operation, that is going to suck donkey balls because in Shepparton, you can't get any other PayTV service and I would have to go without PayTV.

Same here, I couldn't go back to watching the crud that gets dished up on network TV.

ok,i got this info from a fairly reliable source and yeah,apparently it doesnt have long at all,theyve downgraded a lot,cut a lot of staff.
it may have changed since they cut the staff,but what i heard was they may just last till the end of this month or next and their internet service will be finishing too
and another thing,foxtel will be taking over and offering austar customers their service

I've got Austar in Mildura. They're stopping the broadband internet service (which sucks because now I have to go back to 56k) but they're keeping the dial-up internet service and the pay tv.

Unfortunately I don't think they're getting the footy channel though.

Its Austar's decision as to whether they take it or not...if you're an Austar subscriber, maybe you could let them know that you want it? If enough people do, it'll impact.

Well I knew that thier branch offices throughout the country (there was one in Shepparton) were closed and thier installation service was out sourced, but i've heard that they are in deep ****.

They have got a debt (from the Age last week ) of $40,000,000. I think they ought to pull up stumps on this one, but I hope that someone takes over.

When I have to stay up and keep a look out during calving season for the pregnant cows, I often watch Pay TV because I don't want to be annoyed with those "Call me now" 0055 ads, and when I get back from morning milking, the only thing on free to air when I want to have breakfast is bloody infomercials and Humphrey B. Bear.

So, without Pay TV, television would just plain suck.
