there are such things as wireless adapters etc. for your computer monitor? e.g. using my pc and wirelessly using my tv as the monitor if I want to watch movies etc, obviously without having to use cords to link them up?

I've googled some gear, but it either confuses me or it seems relatively expensive?

If anyone can point me in any direction that may help me out that would be awesome!

thanks:)

Anyone know how to hook up a PS2 to a LCD monitor (BenQ E2200HD)?? It has VGA (already connect to my PC), DVI-I and HDMI inputs...Many thanks!

Ryzz, wireless adapters sounds awesome, didn't know they were possible?

I'm not sure whether TV's have the capability to play PC files natively. Can you plug a USB stick into a TV and play video, e.g. .mpg or .avi, from it?

Otherwise you might be interested in a media player. My media player is cabled to the TV and has a USB wireless card plugged into the back. I send files wirelessly from the PC, via a router, to the media player's hard drive, to be played on the TV at my leisure. Alternatively you can transfer the files manually, using a USB stick.

You can connect the audio outlets to a decent stereo and play music, too.

You need to research a player's specs before purchase as the variety of video & audio formats they'll handle varies from model to model.

If your pc has an RCA video output. You can use a AV sender and it will cost about $100 but the picture resolution would be low. If you only have VGA out on your pc it will cost another $100 to convert that to RCA

The only other type of wireless senders I've seen are for HDMI and they are expensive (sell them at work for $500)

Sorry, can't help really help with your question, but if you only want to watch videos, listen to music or view photos, the media player option Ron spoke about is a good one I think. The WDTV Live media players are pretty good IMO, and fairly cheap if you don't need to buy the full wireless setup all at once...

I have two setup wirelessly in my house, which were about $200 each around mid-last year, but they've recently come down in price - have seen them for as low as $100 before. You'd need a wireless adaptor for it (only certain ones will work), which you can get around $30-$50 IIRC, and I'm guessing you'd need a router too, which if don't have one already, that could add a bit to the price.

Supports HDMI, component or composite AV cables, DTS, Wireless-N, 1080p (although not sure how full HD would go on wireless?), and quite a few file formats including MKV/x264 and dvd ISOs.

You can also plug an external hard drive or usb stick into it rather than hook up to the PC, if you prefer - it has two usb ports, so you could probably have a drive and wireless adapter both plugged in - never tried that myself. Or there's also a newer more expensive model, which comes with a built in hard drive and media server.

If that's the tech you want to use, it might depend on what outputs your computer can provide.

http://www.smarthome.com.au/hometheatre/videosender.php is a good example. Their cheaper products needs RCA (red-yellow-white) or SCART output, while their HD product can use HDMI but is mucho expensive.

Personally I use my PS3 in a similar manner to what has been suggested above with a media player. PS3 attached to TV, uses wireless networking to pick up the video library on my PC and can stream them onto the TV.
