A midget that briefly played for Claremont in the mid/early 90's. I think his name was Hendry or something.. He wore a helmet and was comical in that although he picked up many possessions, 1/3 were clangers and I don't think I have EVER seen a player get run down as often.

Ring any Bells?

Yep, remember him well enough Kram, especially that helmet, which was not the classy Phil Narkle type helmet, I hasten to add.

Is my assessment of his playing career accurate or overly harsh though? Did he play many games? The bloke just seems to stick in my mind for being funny in the way he played. It was a very long time ago I would have probably been about 12..

Oh and P.Narkle my mum tells me was a great player cruelled by injury, I remember him doing well for Swans and playing a couple of his last VFL/AFL games for the Eagles.

I thought he was a decent WAFL player, don't remember him being the clanger king, but he may well have been.

Your mum is right about Phil Narkle, looks like he struggles to walk these days, as in he hobbles a fair bit from the old injuries he told me last year, when I quietly joked he might pull the guernsey on for us we were in that much trouble.

Chrsco, I think you mean Basil Campbell;)

Yep, but Phil had a matching black, with white stripe down the middle, to Basil's red one. Did Basil have a white V on his?

No, Basil had the same design, red on the sides and the white strip down the middle.

And more of the opposition were looking out for it:D

From memory he was a decent running back pocket and was likely to have been in Freo's initial squad. He had to retire after the 94 season due to severe concussions.

As a Claremont supporter I remember him well.

He was a very handy player who was a good driver in tight traffic. Played most of his games in the back pocket and was a reliable player with good decision making. Who if my memory serves me correctly played State football.

Clanger King pppffffttttt.

He was no Wirra but he was a solid WAFL player.. also a very good club man.
He sustained several head injuries hence the helmet.. the cumulative effect of these injuries resulted in his time in the WAFL being cut short.
