Does Knobel have any defensive skills?

Just wondering since in terms of our rotating ruckmen, Stafford and Simmonds both have goal scoring ability, and would probably be rested in the forward-line, maybe Knobel will be rested in defence where we can really use some height?

Has anyone seen him in defensive drills in training?

he is not the greatest defensive player in the league mainly due to his lack of mobility around the ground. We never really used him in that role as we had Jason Blake, so really he could surprise.

I severly doubt he has a defensive side to his game.

Maybe as a loose man floating across the half-back line looking for a mark, but that'd be about it.

Knobel has no skills. I'm expecting very little out of him. Any more would be a surprise.

all he is is a ruckman that will hopefully give our midfielders first use of the ball. He will fill the gap in the back line blocking thier fwds from getting to the ball that is all we require from him.

Knobels been a bit of a suprise packet to me so far.I expected very little after the bagging the saints had given him.It's obviously only training practice matches but I reckon he's been aquiting himself well.Good one grab marks.Very mobile and his kicking seems to be pretty good.Obviously it isn't match conditions and it's January but i reckon a few supporters might be pleasantly suprised with him.Let's face it the bar has been set pretty low of late.

Thats what i thought too but i reckon he may also offer a bit lurking across half back(as Mcguane suggested in his assessment on the radio) or resting in the forward pocket.

I think i am and the other saint supporters are in a better position to comment on Knobels game than richmond supporters, but if you chose not to listen its your choice, (and here comes a comment from bentleigh or tigerboyz)

The reason it is said Knobel doesn't have any skills is because have you actually ever seen him get a kick? In three games during the finals he only got 6 possessions. With 0 in two of the games, he may actually have some skill if he finds the leather, but he isn't prone to leather poisoning

Twice actually, once in the centre kicking it to a Leading Reiwoldt at the TD and in the Brissy game after taking a very strong pack mark.

He is a good (not great) ruckmen who can take the occasional strong mark.

Anything after that is beyond expectations IMO.

Not sure if this has been in a past thread before, I kinda remember reading it somewhere but wanted to ask, does anyone know what numbers Trent Knobel and Will Thursfield are or will be? The most likely are 13 or 36. Just wanted confirmation on this.

Well, since you've already posted your honest opinion in this thread, why do you continuously keep coming back and post unneccessary comments which insult Tiger supporters who were only giving THEIR opinion? Especially with that boxers remark. Grow up.

yeah mate i meant nothing by it, i just feel that some of these guys need to get some back after they started all thes annoying threads in our board about knobel, fiora etc
