He wont play for the 2s. its seniors or nothing. atm he isnt worth a happy meal and adds zilch to the team.

If this is his attitude then retire him now.. and probably sums up his career and why we have never had a selfless team culture whilst he has been a leader at the club..

Please he could have left a million times, a very loyal player and been fantastic.

Like his performances three to five years ago should have any bearing on his value to the team currently.

Selfish, lazy and unaccountable - he epitomises everything wrong with Carlton. We won't improve until he is gone.

Loyal no doubt, could have gone to Brisbane the day he was drafted.. No one can question that however he has led a team that has under performed for a decade.

The brisbane decision wasnt because he wanted to be loyal to carlton, he didnt want to leave victoria......

I just hate the rhetoric that he 'deserves 300' - he 'deserves' 300 if he puts his head over the ball, runs, chases, tackles, doesnt soccer the ball off the ground at every opportunity, doesnt go to ground like a sniper shot him at any sign of contact - so quite frankly, he doesnt deserve 300, not by a long shot.

If he wants to do the above then he is best 22, if he doesnt, and hasnt for a long time, he isnt best 22 and doesnt get a game.

Yep - though I'd also be discreetly attaching the condition that he has to lead and set a strong example in those reserves games. Not complaining isn't enough, he needs to perform.

Don't tell him that, just silently judge it and anything other than 110% commitment to the team ethos means he stays there.

The conversation I would have with him, while informing him he's being dropped, would be to ask whether he wants to try and limp meekly over the line to 300 games, or if he wants to make a real statement and go out guns blazing. See if that has any effect.

His two media appearances in the last week were so galling and selfish, that, in the context of a root-and-branch review of the club, he MUST be dropped. Give him 4 weeks back there, and see how he responds. I'd happily never play him again, and call his "I'm an icon of the club, I'm untouchable" bluff. But maybe it's better for the club to give him a chance to redeem himself.

Next week’s selection as far as Murphy is concerned will be interesting and give more insight into Teague after the Barker exiting today.
It’s been reported as fairly common knowledge that Murphy and Barker are great mates.
If that is indeed the case, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to believe Barker would have been a strong allie at the selection table.
With Barker now gone, should Murphy be again selected, it has to sit firmly on Teague unless it is a management directive in which case, hand the keys in …

He deserves a farewell game regardless of form given the season pretty much shot. That is all. Being gifted 300 is not really an achievement. Team looked better against * when he wasn't in the team

He probably will after the piss poor effort

History. He hasn't played a VFL game for donkeys.

Any player not willing to play seconds shouldn’t be on an AFL list.

No play should be gifted games and Murphy should be in the same boat. Look at Fisher.

Whats murph going to get out of playing in ressies? He knows all he needs to know. Is a professional so would be well prepared for games as well.
Provide Leadership for our young players. An opportunity to contribute to the club getting better while being paid.

It’s Beyond selfish what he has been like this last week and he is walking around like he owed !! Wtf

barker left today and if the Club play him next week , this review has already failed!!
It’s like he is holding the club to ransom , there a lot of members and supporters hurting for this once great club that bought of a lot of joy to a lot of people and this guy thinks he is the club

he Doesn’t deserve to be in the same breath of big nick , doull , braddles , sos, simmo ( even to his last game was putting his body on the line )

so let’s see what this club is made of

So not sure who to blame, but best to hedge all bets
