For the uniniated, this masterpiece came from Mercyful Fate, a British band of the 1980's that were somewhat ahead of their time. Don't Break the Oath was their second album and was a brilliant piece of work incorporating the twin riffing style that was all the rage, with complex arrangements (for the time) that made the album mesmerising.

DBTO had it all, killer riffs, heaviness, haunting vocals, hypnotic keyboards and an evil undertone lyrically (the occult, Satan, witches etc).

Overall a brilliant piece of work which rates a 9.5 on emperor's 10 point scale.

FYI Mercyful Fate are a Danish band - the best band to come from Denmark.

Mercyful Fate's Dont Break The Oath and "Mellisa" are one of the best black metal, heck even best albums ever released.
Better then most of that over hyped "ultra grimm" crap from norway and better then posers such as Trivium.
