We have a great club - and we played another great club today who took us apart professionally, similar to what we did to Geelong by 110. But the future is great.

Don't judge Hawks based on their moronic neanderthal fans on Bigfooty - they are a gun team.

But next year - we start afresh with Buddy, Tippett and more new blood having established combinations.

We will win in 2015.

As a fan, just remember - show the pride and discipline you expect from the players. No cheap shots at individuals. Leave that to Melbourne club fans and Eddie Maguire types.

Today was a blip on a huge future in the next two to three years.

Look I have a positive outlook. But at the start of the year there was only ONE pass mark and that was to WIN the premiership! We did not accomplish it and harsh decisions have to be made by the football club because some players just didn't have the influence.

In the cold hard light of day Reid is not a swing man, we don't hav a 2nd ruckman n our midfield is very good but very overrated. I don't see why Reid is being made the scapegoat cause he still is only a boy that has never been played n groomed for his potential. Made the spearhead of a premiership side as a kid n thrown into this swing man sh!t. Play the kid where he played as a junior. KPD!!! The midfield will improve a lot over the next few years. It's the ruck/utility that is of most concern, that player that is versatile around the ground but is a true ruck man.

I am in the we are great team camp but we also desperately need to move on some dead woof and maybe grab some currency from others that can be expendable.

need to be bold to compete.

hawthorn are just about to gain Frawley and Clarke.

That should terrify us.

Cumon if you believe the Vic media their a battling club that has scrapped into a GF. Not a club that has just played in 3 GF's, back to back n finished 2nd on the ladder this year. You won't hear a thought of HTF has this happened but just McChin n The clown slapping each other on the back.

We had a lot of players in their first gf.lloyd, rohan, Tippett, rampe, Cunningham and mglynn.they had no idea what to expect in a grand final and the intensity required. The 2012 premiers went into that game as huge underdogs with nothing to lose and performed accordingly. This year we were favourites and I dare say most players looked like winning was. Forgone conclusion.

As bad as this loss is, the players now understand what it feels like, they understand what it takes to win a flag and the level they have to be at. We can and should learn a lot from this ala hawks in 2012

Yep we've still got a great list, some slight over-reactions going around but after that poor effort and in a GF too, it's justified. For mine our challenge next year is all Mental, the abilities there, it's just whether this humiliation ruins them mentally like it has a lot of the other runner-ups who have been flogged. No mass changes needed.

We have the players on our list to try and turn around our clearance performance - As long as it's identified and worked on thoroughly over the off-season, no head in the sand stuff about it. Mitchell is exactly the player we'll need, Heeney too be added aswell, Jones could help out too (although maybe he'll be a defender).
We should have the players to cover Mal's probable loss (not replace but cover), Goodes and Shaw have been great servants but if they choose to retire (and I don't think both will or should, but maybe one) but their output this season certainly isn't irreplaceable. A few others players maybe need to be reinvented in new roles to fix a few other areas, KD, small forward.

While this was probably our best shot, and we blew it big time, and we certainly won't be as dominate next year it's not impossible to turn it around. Still will have a good list as long as they don't drop their heads.
It's up to Horse to re-jig a few things, game-plan wise and maybe even structural (eg, is 4 talls the way to go, or does Reid go back and a few quick small forwards get to Buddy and Tippetts' feet?) doesn't need to throw everything out the door, but teams will be better prepared to combat us in 2015 so we need to evolve as well.

We certainly shouldn't forget that this was an excellent season, especially after such a slow start.

Still, the Buddy deal demands premierships, and it's only going to get harder from here as the salary cap narrows and our rising stars demand the money they are worth.

This was a big missed opportunity.

Yep.

Getting angry about it.

I would have said before the game making the granny was a "win" in itself but to be thrashed in it has taken it way way into the lost opportunity column for me and made it a fail.

I can handle being beaten in a close contest where effort is undeniable and everything is left out there - being bullied into submission is a huge fail.

What perspective? It was a ****ing awful game. The less I'm reminded of it, the better. They played like campaigners and should be treated as campaigners until pre-season starts. You certainly won't see me walk up to Jetta, shake his hand and say well played, you'll see me walk up to him and demand that he refunds my GF ticket.

I disagree 100% with your post. Not sad, not disappointed, I'm ****ing disgusted. It was a pathetic game to go and see, and if that was any ordinary H&A game, I'd have typed up my letter to send to the club demanding my admission fee back. There's 1 game where I did that in 2012, the St Kilda game, but this game is far far worse.

Why don't we ask Port supporters how they felt about their season after the 2007 GF. No point in getting ready to **** only to get it stuck in your zipper.

In reality we are not even close to a full strength Hawthorn side we can get close if they have injuries.

Rubbish.
Full pre-season and combination work, we will be great.
Good lesson today - I think we read our own press and thought we would waltz it in.

One swallow doesn't make a summer. It's one game.

Stay classy.

Have to agree with this especially when you consider the position we were in 2 home finals we didn't leave Sydney for a month that along with a fresh and rested list.

People seem to forget we played the least amount of players of any side, Kennedy and Mal escaped hamstring injuries we had the luck required then to lose by 10 goals Yer... had to think anything good can come from today.

It needs to be reviewed and said this is a dark day for a very proud club.

It's one game.
It's the ONLY ****ing game. The league exists for the purpose of awarding a premiership at the end of each season, which is based on the winner of that ONE ****ING GAME.

All the other ones Hawthorn played leading up to it are utterly and completely irrelevant because they won that one game.
