Thanks everyone. So sorry about that. My wife had (really) high blood pressure, and they couldn't work out what was going on. Better now. May have been a viral thing or reaction to medication. Anyway, thank you all for the kind words!

yes i know that panic. one of my partners had blood pressure issues regularly and many trips to hospital in ambulances. Thyroid was main blame apparently.
