I just wanted to know how do i insure to get the best player in the draft? I always have pick 1 not because i finish last but because i trade players to get that pick but it always looks like the payer that goes with pick 2 is better!

I don't know if this works on every version of FF, but I usually just trade my first round pick (usually the last of the round) for the first pick overall from the wooden spoon side. Then I'd trade my 2nd round pick for their second round pick and so on until I had the first draft choice first in every round that I wanted.

I don't know how to judge which one is better then the other, usually I just pick the player with a * next to their name and if theres two I pick the one that addresses the positions I need. Alot of it, I think, comes down to how you develope the player in terms of giving him gametime, competition for spots, injuries etc.

Another question, you can't get to pick who you want to go onto the rookie list can you?

Re draft, I picked up a kid with pick 80, and 3 years later his rating was in the 90's! Now there's a pick up! :D Couldn't believe it, probably a bug though ;) .

Id like to be able to draft more than 5 players a year. For one season i only had 26 players on my list. You should be able to draft until you have the maximum your list can take.

oooh yeah thats a bugga, my list was down to 25 after 5 years, when more than 3 players got injured, I couldn't play any more, so I started again. Just make sure you manage your list well, don't have more players going out then coming in.

I once picked up a guy with about pick 74 as a tall FF type - Tarrant, Rocca, Nixon, Cam Cloke all injured - so I played him. By quarter time he had five goals, by the end of the game he had nine - ended up winning the Rising Star even though he only played nine games!

It's a fantastic game, and with a couple more improvements it could be just about perfect.

I dunno how you can get down to 25 players after 5 years. Thats some major mismanagement there. When re-signing your team, sometimes you have to give up some pretty good players, and sign worse ones, just so there is more on your list.

After 5 years ive got a list of 38 players. The least amount of players ive had come in is 6. The most amount of players that have left in one year is 11. That was the year i only gained 6 players so i lost 5 players off the list but it was due to money reasons. I had to let go of Brogan, Carr, Wilson and Pickett to keep some better players on the list but also to keep some talented younsters as well.

I find the draft/trade is a bit of a gamble. I got Brad Sewell in the uncontracted players...he has a rating of 92 at the moment and in 2 1/2 years hes played 25 games for an average disposal per game of 5.8!!! 5.8 disposals per game with a rating of 92 is not good. But then i got Jade Rawlings just as tall backup for 2 years with a rating of 28 and he performed well and forced his way into a semi permanent spot in my team.

Great game.

That's the thing with FF, sometimes you get guys with an overall rating in the 70's yet their performance is minimal. However I have a few blokes in the 40's/50's that are going very well.

I picked up Matthew Pavlich one year and he was (and is) a star. Got 51 possessions and 4 goals in one game! Very reliable.

I've only been playing FF for a month or two and it is fantastic! My favourite part is the draft, and picking up the youngsters. Always a gamble, but very interesting to see just what sort of talent you pick up.

yeah I know :D . My team was St Kilda, and I just kept all the good young players, after 2 or so years they're asking $600,000+. Goddard Ball Hayes, I hope they aren't that money hungry in a few years :( .
I pick up a FF in the draft, after a year he was rating 90's, goal acc in the 80's+, max kick 60's, got the coleman/rising star first year. After his 2 years were up, I couldn't afford him, asking $750,000+ . No loyalty I tell ya! :p

yeh, lyk Blues4Life said, i trade my first round pick for the wodden spooner's first round pick.
sometimes i also trade a lower pick and some ok players for the second-last team's pick.
