OK, here's the thing. Hardwick is retiring, Wilson is getting on, Carr might be heading to Freo....Port will be looking for the next generation of niggling midfielder/defenders, and from my perspective its really tricky to find out about relevant prospects when most reports don't want to talk about this aspect of the game much.

Does anyone here that goes to games have any tips for actual or potential hard nuts that have enough class to do OK in the AFL? Any kind of summary would be tops.

In the draft i think jordan lewis from the falcons may be the sort of player you are looking for.

At footy draft.com he is rated to go early though, apparently can give out a decent shirtfront.

What number do u think Lewis will go?

Jason Ferraro from Dandenong Stingrays, Hoewver i dont think he is eligable this year, next year though.

If you can age them back to 18-20 year olds, that might work.

Lewis does look a likely sort, but there's no way he'd slip far enough.

i'd look at vandenberg, although he is probly abit old for port's needs.

if i wasnt an eagles supporter, i would say young beau waters is what you would be looking at. his attack on the ball is ferocious (cant spell). but u cant have him.

Is that cos the crows have already claimed him thru their magical recruiting powers?

With the grand final fast approaching i've got a half mongrel if that counts :D

Couldn't agree with you more Greeny.

Big JF would fight any man or animal, HELL if god was real, Ferrero would fight him too.

I doubt you'd recruit a guy from junior footy for being a hardnut. Kids playing against kids is no real indication, your tough-guy might turn out to be simply a bully who goes to water when he comes up against men.

Hardwick was 20 when he was drafted out of the VFL, Wilson was 20 when he came out of the SANFL. You are more likely to use the rookie list to pick up a 20 year old if you were after a bit of grunt.
