Dreamworld

Just came back from two days there. Anyone else been? I think it's awesome. Leaves the other theme parks on the Gold Coast for dead. Five high thrill rides - The Tower of Terror, The Giant Drop, The Claw, Wipeout and Cyclone. My favourite is the Giant Drop. Sitting there for a minute or so looking out at the scenery then without warning free falling to earth. :D I could have gone on that all day. Only bad thing was the queues. We usually had to wait for about 30 minutes for each ride. We waited for The Tower of Terror for about half an hour then just as we were about to get on there was a malfunction and they sent us away. :(

You fool, you should have gone before Christmast. The difference is huge!

You should have gone to Sea World though. I would've given you a free coke.

Another vote for Dreamworld.

Loved it all, except the Big Drop. You know how they say keep your head back at all times? I sneezed just as it dropped, head went forward, neck went crack... I didn't do any serious damage, but like with any neck injury, I didn't feel right for the rest of the day.

Joy :)

I know but this is the only time that everybody could go.

I must be the only one who didnt like it, although i did like the giant drop, i HATE heights and i hated this ride at the time, but thinking back to it it was kinda fun, although i think i deafened my friend next to me, dont think he could hear properly for the next week :D , and i did meet a nice guy on the Cyclone ride, although stupid me didnt get his number.

I don't mind heights but the ride that freaked me out the most was the Sky Ride(the chair lift thing). I couldn't work out how the cars manage to stay on. It looks like they only have a clip over them and most of them were rusty. I couldn't wait to get off that thing. :(

It's like this:

Dream World (most expensive but most thrilling)
Sea World

Movie World

Dreamworld by a mile. Some family friends are up from Melb atm and wen't to Dreamworld today too.. They had all their stuff stolen by some b'stards in the toilets/changerooms.

Best time to go is between March and October, anytime there isnt school hols on.. Shouldn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for any ride.

Been there probably a dozen times in the last 2 or 3 years. Who Xmas parties with full grog provided and Park open only for the Xmas people.. And went to a BB eviction.. Which I aint proud of, but an ex was up at the time, and she paid for it.. Bout $400 for 2 tickets IIRC!

That doesn't sound too bad after my trip to the USA. At Disney World it was common to have to wait at least an hour for the most popular rides. As for Dreamworld, it is certainly on my 'to do' list as I have never been. Will be up in February so will check it out then.

When we went to Dreamworld in August 2001, the wait for the Giant Drop was around 45 minutes - but at that stage it was the single most popular ride there, so not that bad considering.

Been there 4 times. Every trip to Queensland I go there and never get sick of the place. Best park by miles. Last time I went, 3 years ago, it was in June and there was no one there, so soon as your ride ended, you jumped back on without having to queue.

Heading back up in June next year (combining a trip with the Cats v Lions game). Looking forward to going again. Might visit the lot this time.

I'm yet to go to Wet 'n' Wild. Who's been on here? Is it more for kids or for all ages?

I disagree. I think 45 minutes is far far far too long to have to stand around doing nothing but waiting after paying roughly 60 dollars for entry.

45 minutes is pretty much the average wait time at Dreamworld at normal times. And thats all rides.

You can see they are starting to consider and address this a lil more, by making the wait for the ride 'Interactive'. For instance, the new Cyclone ride at Dreamworld has a big indoor cylinda (sp?) with a spiral staircase. I was there at a quiet time and waited one hour. While it's basically just a que, they are beggining to attempt to fix this frustration.
IMO much more could be done to entertain the punters while they wait.

Catman. Wet n Wild is absolutley awesome.. Again if you dont have to wait too long. Its worse there because you are outdoors most of the day, and it can get quite warm.

I love Wet 'n Wild. Check for the Dive - In movie times before you go and catch a movie inb the Big Wavepool to finish of your day :)

No that is fair enough... I remember almost falling asleep, so it could've been longer.

Like Ed Norton in Primal Fear, I think I "l-l-l-lost time..."

I loved it. Me and a mate went on a coldish day with a bit of rain about and practically had the park to ourselves. There is plenty for the kids, but there is enough for all ages really.

Yeah, thats when you wanna go when it's a lil wet or miserable. And if you're from Melb the odds are the air humidity will keep you warm anyway so you wont be cold.

I was having too much fun to be cold. I think I ended up getting a cold as a result though.

You're loss choc. Both awesome rides that give you the feeling you've just been injected with an adreniline shot.

Also a pretty great view at the top of the Giant drop if you're lucky enough to cop the East side.
