Drink Drive, Bloody Royce Vardy

Royce has put his foot right in it.

He certainly deserves to be suspended from training and I think they will give him 5 weeks of the regular season to send another message to him and the rest of the team.

Royce's indiscretion was much worse than Daffy and Ottens, I mean to be caught drink driving is bad enough but when the TAC is your major sponsor it goes way above one person being involved. Even if this was Richo or Gasper or anybody else I think they deserve to be suspended for at least 5 weeks of the regular season until everyone gets it.

I read that the senior leadership group will also discipline him, to borrow from an episode of the Young One's (the one where Rick had to get a tee-shirt with "I am a virgin" printed on it), Royce should be made to wear an "I am a bloody idiot" tee-shirt at every training session so he remembers. He will certainly feel like an idiot when he taking the train for the next 14 months.

He should definetley suspended but i reckon he should still be able to train with the team still, but hard isolating him from everyone else.

Hopefully he doesn't get sacked because we need him as a backup tall defender.

Even though he has done the opposite to what TAC promote they have got great publicity out of the incident and will hopefully stay on as major sponsor.

Suspend and fine him but don'r sack him. He did the wrong thing but I don't think that a sponsor should dictate to a club what to do with a player ie. sack him.

This is disappointing but we will overcome this setback.

I disagree i believe he should be sacked. That kind of rubbish in no way, shape or form should be tolerated. Now that would send the message home real good wouldn't it, you can't go easy on criminal activity, it just breeds more criminality.

He knew the score, he made his bed, he has to lie in it.

It's got nothing to do with TAC dictating to the club at all, get off that horse it's rot. TAC has a responsibility to the public to hold it's integrity, otherwise they may as well just go and hand beer to every driver on the road, give me a break!!! Wake up guys and smell the roses.

The club has got a responsibility too, they knew it, and so did the players, they all knew the score. The TAC sponsorship is important to us, to you my freinds as well, they help keep our club, your club alive.

Your integrity is your credibility, if you don't have that then you have nothing.

Lets wait and see what happens.

Rodger, if you were done for drink driving would you expect that you would be sacked from your office job/construction job or whatever you do to make a crust?

Oh mY Hat, Under those circumstances, very definitely, You have got to realise that these people are right in the public eye, and this particular guy has an organisation that is sponsoring his club and helping to pay his wages that is dead against the very criminal activity that he perpetrated.

To compare him to me or even to you is ludicrous, there is no comparison, but having said that, If you or i were in that situation then yes, very definitely we should both get the chop.

Have a look at the whole scene my freind, you've got to look at the big picture, I can't see that your doing that.

Very tricky, sensitive issue here.

In the end, I think the club did the right thing. OK so the club's sponsorship with TAC has been put in jeopardy, I find this very frustrating but I'm sure Royce does to. I believe we all stuff up and he did big time. One mistake shouldn't equal the end of a sponsorship and the end of a promising career with Richmond.

Richmond do have integrity and responsibility. To deal with these two things at once can't make everyone happy. They layed down the law to Vardy as they should (although perhaps it should have been harsher) and they took it on well.

The youngster has damaged our credability, especially to TAC. Our relationship with TAC has been damaged also and that should not be forgotten however we're dealing with a person here. A Tiger. Someone who plays the game for us and a person who we will cheer when it comes down to it. In this situation I think we have made the right decision, no matter what we have lost.
