I read into gaspar's sacking that we've written the season off and there's no point carrying players who aint going to be there long term.

So given how these 2 players have either gone missing or made critical errors in games that were there to be won in the past couple of weeks, lets see if Wallace is there to coach or there to keep his big salary for as long as possible.

Johnson is long overdue for a rest. Pettifer just as much.

You want the kids to become champions, show them that footy is a tough game and if you dont perform, there's no loyalties or reputations. You're a star won day and a dead man walking the next.

pettifer was worth up to six goals on the weekend. johnson, im afraid, it is time for him to be stripped of captaincy. i thought he made an honest attempt to lift us at subi, but he just doesn't commit enough.

Pettifer wasn't bad on the weekend - he just needs to try and be a bit more consistent. He either has a decent game, or just goes missing and will get maybe 8 touches.
Johnsons skills are terrible especially as he's supposed to set an example for the younger boys.

He will NOT be omitted (possibly miss a week or so for injuries but never dropped.)

When a captain is dropped it gives the team instability and that is the last thing richmond need.
His form may not be the best but until he is no longer captain he will line up each week.

Too harsh on Pettifer IMO. Good value as a leading small forward that will be able to return more when our midfield improves. (Gains experience & improves skills etc...) Can also kick important goals.
Agree re Johnson. He has not offered much at all this year except turnovers!
If he aint fit then rest him for a few until he is.
Interesting that through all threads on these boards, most players that get bagged also get some support.
I can't recall too many pro Johnson posts however!

I think the main theme should be on Pettifer and his years with the Tigers, and on Kane, his years with the Tigers,,,,,,,,,,,, and how the F--- he ever got captaincy!

We TOOK Pettifer and I think he's an absolute necessity in the next couple of very GOOD years.
Kane is totally different: hard decision gotta be made here. Not up to it as a modern day player, and not a captain's bootlace (the game's changed a lot since he was cheque-booked) but is Wallet gunna say he was wrong????

Last years b/f. Out of sorts at the moment, but will be back. Settle down people. One of the best/if not the best tagger in the league when hes up and going. I agree hes probably not our best choice in captain, but deffinantly an important cog in our rebuilding. Once we start playing finals, we will need someone with expirience. He is the only player on our list to have actually expirienced the ulitmate success. We needed another year down the bottom to top up our list any ways.

I Kane Johnson of the Richmond Football club hear by will captain this club for a few years before i find a way to stuff the club up in the best way possible. Apart of that is that i must play 22 games a season regardless of my form to lead the kids into the bright future and by showing them the real way to play football. I with all the success from Adelaide behind me I will lead Richmond into a new future. After my playing days are over I will become the new skills coach for Richmond to make sure the young players get the best out of there ability

I disagree.

For one,he could be dropped but hide behind his injury as far as media coverage - something I would expect.

Secondly,dropping him would prove that the club is making all efforts necessary to kill the current losing culture and lack of leadership.

The turnovers he is responsible for over the last few weeks have been of the worst type a bloke can do.

There was a criteria applied to Gaspar. Correctly.

Gaspar aas a short term solution, not a long term one. Better to blood a young player in the position.

Same criteria should be applied to Johnson and Pettifer.

Johnson sets bad examples for young players and is a liability that costs us games.

Pettifer is a senior player that doesnt stand up and compete consistently.

What's this one rule for one and a different for another?

Probably that Gaspar was recruited before Greg Miller, and Johnson was recruited by Greg Miller.

I totally agree but it wont happen, captains dont get dropped or forced to retire midstream, only great players are told time is up....i.e. knighter, broderick rogers etc etc
