Dropped my External Hard Drive!!! Help

I just dropped my external hard drive onto the floor from about a foot. My PC will not read it. Is it gone or can I retrive the data?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Is it making a funny little clicking noise? If so then your are on the border. You might get it back or it may be to late depending on where the Hard drive is at..

I resurrected a Hard Drive from the clutches of death with data recovery software. The one I used was Get Back Data but there are a few around...
Just Google data recovery and you should be right

you could try opening up the enclosure and plugging it straight into the computer/putting it into another enclosure. recovery will depend on what exactly broke/got damaged when you dropped it

I got external hardrive for xmas. got heaps of stuff on it. On thursday it just stopped reading. now it wont come up on my computer or ps3. i also checked the cord to see if it was just the cord by replacing with another hardrive cord and didnt read. The light flashing so its not the hard-drive.

Not sure what to do with this

hardrives are fragile things. Depends what you damaged, might just be the reader. Take it into a shop who provides data recovery services and you might be able to get the data back but the hard drive itself is probably screwed if thats what you are concerned about.

I dropped one of my hard drives and it would no longer read on anything so what I did was opened up the enclosure and spotted that it had came away from the actual connection. It would no longer staying connected so what I did was put a piece of rubber at the other end to keep it pushed in and closed it back up, now it works fine.
