Drunk book reading?

Do you read books while drunk? I avoid it because I think I'll forget too much. With TV and tooling around the internet I don't care as much. I would like to continue reading this current book but don't want to have to re-do parts.

I used to enjoy a beer while I was studying, would help pass the time a bit more quickly.

I tend to drink in sociable situations. Reading is about as unsociable as you can get.

I tried this over just one beer last night and found it hard to concentrate. That might've also been because my weirdo neighbour was whistling loudly.

Romantic poets, Lewis Carroll, Hunter Thompson, Lester Bangs, the beat poets, they were all pretty artificially enhanced too.

Did this with several books - Les Miserables, a few Iain Banks books, Cloudstreet. Sometimes it really makes you get into the story more.

Umberto Eco or Milan Kundera would make interesting drunk reading.

Some books make just as much sense whether you're drunk or sober. Bob Dylan's "Tarantula" comes to mind.

Thing with that is the brain forms memory and recall as close to the original state as possible. Helps in identifying cues. Your best bet would be to have downed a couple before the exam an you would've been fine.
