DT Finals Thread

Hey guys, thought I'd make a decent thread about the finals where we can discuss important topics relating to the finals.

As it's my first year, I'm very keen to hear any advice/suggestions about the finals. I'm sitting 2nd in my very competitive cash league.

I'll throw a few topics out:

1. TRADES - How many trades do you recommend keeping for the finals? Go for broke now and get your 'dreamteam' ready pre-finals so you can get the highest spot in your league possible or conserve your trades? Is it common that many injuries happen in the last 4-6 games of the year? Bring in a sub now or just do a straight swap if someone gets injured?
2. RESTING PLAYERS - If, for example, Geelong go a game or 2 ahead, are they likely to rest their stars for our DT GF? Imagine Gablett and/or Bartel being rested for your final... Or on the opposite end of the scale, teams that may want to 'tank' will give players early surgery... Policies like these must surely come into when using up those final few oh-so-important trades.
3. TOP4 - Again, go for broke and sacrifice money/trades for that top4 position or hold back and then go for it once finals come round?
4. FINALS STRATEGY - There must also be a strategy when it comes to finals games. Any proven methods? I guess research is the key here - what opponent have you got, what's he likely to score etc?
5. AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT MAY BE IMPORTANT.

If you don't have 4-6 trades you need a lot of luck last year was horrible with the amount of zeroes that I got towards the end.

What i'd give to have 4-6 trades left!
Rookie year and I heard from the start biggest rookie mistake is using up trades too quickly...

Have been hurt badly by a weak starting team and a good few injuries.
Only 2 trades left. Have decent emg's but I'd love to downgrade kosi and bring in Gablett for Hall

Mate, with only 2 trades left and you wanting to focus on winning your league i would shut up shop now and save those trades.

Kosi still has some good scores left in him when he gets back with quite a few games under the roof of the dome.

Hall has little value so it would be best hoping that he can come good in the Swans relatively easy run home.

Just imagine upgrading Hall to Gablett before the finals by downgrading Kosi and Gablett gets a season ending injury in round 18-20.

No trades left and an injured gun! Better to look at fixing injury holes during the finals now, rather than replacing out of form stars.

Yeah mate, i totally agree. It's bloody tempting to upgrade and hope for no injuries or use an emg if so, but that's just asking for trouble.

So for anyone who doesn't know it already, let's make this rule no1 for Finals Strategy:

1. Don't use your last few trades to upgrade players.
You WILL need them to get you through the finals.
