Hey all,

My team is :

Backs: C. Cornes, Gilbee, Birchall, J. Bowden, Richards, Glass and Gilbert (emergencies; Merrett and Prestie)

Centres: Judd, Kerr, West, Hodge, Kirk and Cassisi (emerg; J. Selwood and Armitage)

Rucks: Cox and Hudson (emerg; Hudson and Sellar)

Forwards: Embley, B. Johnson, Franklin, Hunter, Al. Davey, N. Ablett (emerg; Brennan and Jetta)

Now for my dilemma i have $13,500 in the bank and 14 trades left, but i am thinking of downgrading Cassisi (who is 285,000) to Petterd freeing up about $400,000 and then getting Heath Shaw or McPhee into my team for Richards or Glass or one of those hacks. Then in lieu of playing Cassisi i can start Petterd of J. Selwood on the ground.

What are your thoughts? I am thinking of the Cassisi trade for Petterd but not totally sure of who to get with my excess ~$400,000? I hate Jared Brennan too so was thinking of getting Chapman for him?

Any advice would be helpful as this is my first year of DT and am learning quickly.

Thanks.

How quickly can you learn maths?

I thought someone was actually going to give me some advice - i can assure you my maths is better than yours as is my english. All i am saying is that i will have approx $400,000 in the bank after i make the trade (In: Petterd, Out: Cassisi). I am learning about the whole concept of Dreamteam as i am sure other people.

All i want to know is what should my next trade be - that's all!

Cheers.

Yes i know they aren't quite dilemma's but - i thought for the dramatization it would sound better. That's all. lol. :thumbsu:

I think they are asking where you will get 400,000 from. If you have 13,500 in the bank, and want to to Cassisi to Petterd, which will free up around 200,000, that's is not even close to 400,000.

Somethings wrong.

Tell me how getting Petterd in and trading out Cassisi gets you $400,000! With only $13,500 in the bank? Maybe you should think about taking a remedial maths class when you reach year 8.

Oh woops - my bad i just realised when i said $400,000 spare i meant to say that i would trade one of my shit backman i.e. richards or glass et al. Therefore ($13,500 + 285,500 = 299,000 - 82,300 = 216,700 + 178,600 = $395,300)

which is close to $400,000 sorry for not being specific enough.

Then my next question after you have realised what i have said would be which defender should i get; i.e. Heath shaw or McPhee or should i trade a shit forward like brennan and get Chapman. That makes total sense now - i am sorry i wasn't as clear before - i should never assume anything.

Well, considering Chapman had that injury, which is still a grey area, i would trade one of your backmen this week.

Getting Petterd will be a smart move considering he will rise significantly after this round, and will also free up alot of money.

Both Heath Shaw and McPhee are DT guns, so anyway you go will propably be a wise choice there, but if it were me (i have both, but IF) i would chose H.Shaw.

So, what i'm saying is:

Out: Cassisi, Random Back
In: Petterd, H.Shaw.

Thankyou very much for that advice BarcaRulz. I appreciate it. Yeh not sure what's going on with Chapman, so i think i will go with the idea of a backman i.e. Shaw or McPhee. Although, i was just wondering which of my sub-par backman do u think i should cull as Richards, Glass, Gilbert, Merrett and Prestie are all rubbish. I reckon Gilbert will improve and will go up in value so i am thinking Richards.

Thanks.

I don't think you will have enough money for Shaw but you could maybe have a look at Goddard who might be around the right price. He is a pretty good scorer. On the cheaper side you could also have a look at Gram or Adcock. Both are a down but I think are well priced and should do pretty well for you over the rest of the year. It would also leave you with 80K or so in the bank for your next trade. I have a lot of confidence in Adcock so he would be my choice.

Another trade which you might want to consider this week is Brennan for C Hughes or Hawkins. Hughes is due for a substantial jump next week after averaging close to 90 for his first two weeks. If you made the Petterd trade and the Hughes trade this week you could upgrade two positions next week.

Very good point Quigley, thanks for that (i didn't think of making two downgrades to free up cash). I will do the Petterd trade but the Hughes trade i am not sure because will Hughes continue to rise or will he be a flash in the pan like the person i would be trading him for (Brennan = Devil)? Although, thanks alot for your advice. Much appreciated.

The safer downgrade is Brennan for Hawkins which will also clear up 100k or so. Hawkins is likely to be a bit inconsistent in the first half of the year but could be a very nice investment for sale closer to the finals. You are only looking at a bench position after all.

cleve hughes could prove to be a better pickup than petterd over the long haul. what guarantee is there that petterd will retain his spot when the mass of injured melbourne players return over the next 3 weeks or so? richmond are clearly going for a youth movement with the retirement of gaspar, dropping of tivendale etc and hughes was the one shining light in richmond's shellacking at the hands of geelong. for $89000, i don't think hughes can be compared to brennan.

Yes your right.

Although i have been playing Brennan in lieu of N. Ablett. But from now on Brennan is bench material until i trade him for Hughes. Thanks for your help. Hopefully Heath Shaw doesn't go up too much as does Chapman.

According to FFGenie it says that the b/e of Chapman is 85 and Heater's is 51. So i'm thinking Heater will rise too much if i don't get him this week.

Now it is a bit of a dilemma. lol.

Some very wierd DT choices in your backs. I think i would trade out Presti for H.Shaw if you have enough money.

Thats a good idea. Then you have enough money to trade out both Brennan and a bad back to quality DT players.

Thanks for that. As i am a first year DT'er i didn't realise how crap Prestie and Glass score and just assumed that because Glass was such a good defender he would score well (yes i know nOOb mistake). But yeh i think i am going to do this:

In: Petterd, Out: Cassisi
In: Hughes, Out: Brennan (spanner)

Next week hopefully,

In: Heath Shaw/Mcphee, Out: Richards/Merrett
In: Chapman/ J. Brown, Out: N. Ablett

I have calculated this all and because McPhee has such a high breakeven he may go down so if all goes well i may just be able to do this trade next week. If i go by the expected calculations of FFgenie then i am not going to be able to do this trade by a few thousand. Oh well, time will tell.

Thanks.
