DUKE NUKEM FOREVER LIVES!
After nearly 13 years of development time, Duke Nukem Forever is nearing completion.

The game was on display at the Penny Arcade Expo this weekend in Seattle. Texas-based Gearbox Software confirmed they are finishing development of the title. Studio president Randy Pitchford told the Wall Street Journal the game is expected to ship this fall.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

I bet the game will be a steaming pile of crap too.

Then it will be known for being a flop and we can all get on with our lives :).

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

all get on with our lives ??!?!?

lol

hasnt this game been in development longer than most of you have been alive?
Get on with our lives as in never speak of this again :).

Well it says it's been in development for 13 years, so that means they started working on the game a year before Coxy was born.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

Apparently Gearbox have been finishing development since 2009 and now own the Duke Nukem IP.

Maybe more Duke Nukem games in the future that don't take 13 years to finish? :o

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

I could never get into the Duke character because of the way they shamelessly ripped line after line off from Army of Darkness.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

You do know it's not a real review of anything? In fact it was just put up last Thursday in absence of Yahtzee this week doing a new episode (was chosen from the past reviews he has done, this was more a 'post mortem' when DNF was announced as being cancelled) and even stranger it was up before this was re-announced!

Is this supposed to be a bad thing...:confused::confused:

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

Well...yeah. AoD is a great movie and it's completely hilarious, but just repeating the lines from the movie in the game was pretty lame.

I think it's a great legacy to continue on with. While they took a fair amount of lines from it, they've considerably built on from that too now. So basically we have Ash in video game form years after the Evil Dead series finished.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

Did this just happen super ****ing fast and out of nowhere? Seems odd.

Must of been too subtle for me....

'Damn these aliens for crashing my ride and stealing my women'
The first Duke Nukeem was a classic! Long live Duke!

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

As stated in the Borderlands thread, the new Borderlands GOTY edition will have a special key that will give every person who buys the game a membership to the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club which will allow anyone who is a member to play the DNF demo before it is released to the world (plus potential other extra's).

Publisher 2K announced every copy of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, which ships next Tuesday, comes with a free membership certificate for the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club.

This membership gives players access to "exclusive items," including an early playable demo of Duke Nukem Forever before it's public release.

2K did not say when the demo would be available, only confirming it'll be out "prior to the retail launch of the game," which is still marked for calendar year 2011.

Man I remember playing the original online over a modem hook up, before the internet was a big thing

You mean 3D? The original was released in the 3.1/Dos days.

http://kotaku.com/5661933/looks-like-all-steam-borderlands-owners-get-duke-nukem-forever-access

All owners of Borderlands on Steam have the DNF early access demo code already, without any GOTY edition, or extra DLC purchase. If you select the game from your steam games list and then click on the "cd key" button, the DNF code comes up (I've tried it myself, and it worked).

Then, register your code here:

and all done. Nothing overly exciting, but a nice little bonus:thumbsu:

Re: Duke Nukem Forever - HE IS BACK, BABY!

The Duke is dated for May of 2011!

Source: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...ve-duke-nukem-forever-has-a-release-date.aspx
"Somehow the guys at Game Informer magazine discovered Duke Nukem Forever's launch date before I did," joked Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software and executive producer of Duke Nukem Forever. "But I cannot imagine any better video game news source team than Game Informer to reveal the moment of truth for the most inconceivable, incorrigible and inspiring turn around story in the history of the video game industry – the coming of Duke Nukem Forever on May 3, 2011."

May 3 is the North American release date. May 6 is worldwide.
