I love how people think the only career options after footy are media and coaching. Dusty has finished (or almost finished) studying a certificate IV in business management this year.

Do people even know that Dusty’s father owns a transport business? And his father’s partner runs a sports apparel business? Looks to me like he’s making moves to more than help transition to life post footy.
But he has a neck tattoo, nobodies been successful with a neck tattoo..
:drunk:

I actually haven't claimed anything about Melbourne having a great development of players; though since we cleaned house at the end of 2013 it's been pretty good. North's has been poor for a long time, that's all.

We made the finals the last 3 years playing in 2 Prelims. Such a long long time to be so poor.:drunk:

Does NM really believe that one player like Martin can turn their Club around? He is not a player they need given the dire state of their list. A player like Martin should be persuade by a Club that is playing finals footy that can take them all the way to a flag.

A question for Tiger supporters. If Martin re-signs and over the next 3-4 seasons he maintains this high level of footy, where will he rank amongst Richmond's greatest players of all-time?
I think he will rank highly - I would have him top 10 if he plays at this level for another 3 - 4 years.

Add Ranyor, Allen, get Ahern going, Thomas next year and our 1st Round pick (the top 5 are looking amazing - seen Rankine??) bottom 6 draw and things can turn quickly.

Top 5 pick next year? I thought one of North fan's key arguments for landing Dusty was that you're the best wooden spoon team in history and will bounce back up into finals in 2018?

Top 15 draft picks since 2009

Dees - 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 9, 9 11, 12, 14

Roos - 5, 8, 12, 15

Yeah - please tell us about your great development of players!!

You mean since 2013 where you've had pick 2, 3, 4, 9, 9 in the draft? Yeah, we'd be good with those as well.

I just hope your supporters realise that an inaccurate assessment of your list will set your Club back years and years by getting Martin.

As a completely neutral observer, your list is shot. It will take a solid 4-5 year rebuild to compete properly let alone win finals.

You guys have won just 8 out of your past 34 games.

One of Norths fans?

Every team has at least one - see SHP from the Dees.

We have had a shocking run of injuries this year - delisted a heap of experience and debuted 10 kids. It will take time but we haven't been putrid this year.

The key is now nailing the early picks - getting some late gems and hoping some of the 10 come on quickly. Its why the Blues and Dees were terrible for a long time - the Dees finally got it right and now on the way up. If we butcher picks like they did it will take a long time.

In the history of the AFL we are one of a few that don't stay down the bottom for long.......

Two pick 9's, that's quite an achievement.

That's interesting. Where is his father's transport business based?

History says that no, you wouldn't be. Pick 2 would have been traded for Shane Kersten, 3 and 4 in the draft would have been used to take Darcy Lang, Jack Steele or similar uninspiring, but honest, triers. Both pick 9s would be still on your list but not have played a game yet so we'd have no idea who they were.

I'm not as negative about North's list as most others. Looks a bit imbalanced but I think they could turn it around pretty quickly.

They look fine down back to me with Tarrant, Durdin, Neilson, McKay, EVW with Atley, Williams, Mullet. Same up forward with Brown, Larkey well ahead of expectations, Wood, Garner, Simpkin, Hrovat, Turner. Maybe Ahern in the future too.

The midfield is the big issue for them. Cunnington is a star, Higgins has been great since coming over but is aging. Ziebell should be a half forward, McDonald and Clarke have come on this year and that's about it as far as genuine quality goes. Zurhaar, J Williams and Mountford have shown a bit but they need some real star quality in there. Get Martin and a midfielder with their high first rounder this year and suddenly it's a very different story.

I still think they need a new coach though. Horrible watching them outrunning their opposition and winning the ball in contests only to have them cough it up through long loopy handballs to players standing way too far out from the contest or kicking long bombs due to having no short options.

When you have nothing, just talk out of your ass.

I think its more about showing they can attract talent to their supporters. Its about that big fish.

You sound like you know a thing or two about football. I think you're wasting your breath in this thread. It seems to be for grandstanding and posturing only.

I think he stays but if he leaves pick 16 wouldn't make many at Tigerland happy.
Can't see it with 1.5+ on the table, it's Ablett and Buddy type deals your talking now. No way Merkin and his old man will let him walk away from those numbers. And yep pick 16 ish isn't gunna cut it compensation wise but what are you going to do? bend over and let the AFL have their way with you.

North playing poker now.

Richmond have alot of depth now, even a player the calibre of Dusty will not hurt us I believe, but I know he loves the club, this is Carr's doing.

Entertainment managers can sell iceblocks to eskimos.

Best wishes Dusty whatever you choose.

I know your old man is in a tough spot atm,Tiger Army always will love you,RFC have been magnificent in looking after you when noone wanted a barr of you.

Peace brother.
So losing Martin will not hurt the Tigers?

You lost me at completely neutral when you started liking old Percy's posts.

He's at The Mighty Boosh's level of obsession with North. Like Plugger level obsession with umpires.

Why would I hate or like NM? Strange for you to think otherwise.

Winning 8 games out the past 34 is damning of the state that North are in at the moment. A player like Martin will not fix that imbalance.

He would be great at teams like Melbourne or Essendon to push them into that coveted top 4. He wont make a difference to NM that wont see September action for the next 4-5 years.

You reckon Dusty will go into the PSD do you? Laughable assertion.

Never said I thought it would happen, but I floated it 'could' happen.

Then you said he's a free agent and that its not possible, I then proved to you that it absolutely is possible.

You tried to suggest I don't know the system and I quite clearly just proved it is you who has no idea.

The longer this drags on the more likely Dusty is going. If he does (I have no idea why he would by the way) there's every chance he's unhappy with something at Richmond, and that he gives his new club every chance to be successful via keeping their draft picks.
