Hi all,

I was going to post this in the Dustin Martin thread but I thought this deserved its own separate thread.

If you have a spare 24-odd minutes, then I encourage you to watch this. It seems it was released only 2 months ago so its fairly new. I never knew about it until just then when I was on YouTube.

Quite honestly, what an incredible run it was for Richmond and its supporters. I am so lucky and glad that I was able to experience it all and I'm sure you all feel the same way too.

Three Premierships in four years. Multiple Premeirships in quick time. A dynasty team for sure. Whilst in the AFL world time well and truly does move on and it was 5 years ago since Richmond's last Premiership, its good at times to remember the wonderful journey during that period. If only 2018 had of gone to plan, but you know what.......who really cares. Richmond well and truly made up for it in 2019 and 2020.

Thank you Richmond and thank you Dusty.

Enjoy.

Loved it
How lucky we were during those years. You just got used to how good he was at the time because he did it every week. Just ridiculous how easy he made it look

And yet throughout his career, and especially that period, his outstanding Finals record probably in a way does a disservice to him because thats all he us known for yet he did well in Home & Away footy too.

3:27 someone says “it’s clear Dustyis greater than any other player in the competition”…..sounds a bit like Salty Scott…..nah, must be AI.

FFS made me choke up, that was great thank you

I remember back in the day fuming because Melbourne tanked to get Tom Sculley. It took a Jordan McMahon goal after the siren to deliver this guy to punt road with pick 3.. unbelievable sliding doors moment.

Him sitting Dangerfield down to ice the 2020 flag is one of the iconic moments of modern football
One of the iconic moments of all time IMO. All week the media was billing it as the Dusty v Danger battle to see who was supreme. That moment settled the debate for the rest of the AFL world as we Tiges already knew

DUSTIN MARTIN (2017)

Still the gold standard of contract years – nobody has done it better.

Martin was heavily wooed by North Melbourne throughout 2017, as he began to compile arguably the best individual season of all time.

Reports at the time suggested early offers to Martin landed around $3.4m over four years, before the Roos eventually offered more than $10m over seven.

In 2016, Martin was ranked No.94 in the league and rocketed to No.2 in his big year.

It’s believed ‘Dusty’ stayed for about $2m less than the Roos offer.

A week after re-signing, Martin broke open a qualifying final and would later win the Norm Smith Medal in a drought-breaking premiership later than month.

He would snaffle two more premierships and two more Norm Smith medals.

Martin never really continued on the week-in-week-out level he delivered in 2017, but the contract he signed in his contract year ended up being unders for his incredible return to the Tigers.

Dusty’s 2017 wasn’t just one of the best years ever, but the best contract year. Cheers to that. Picture: Luis Ascui, AAP

The most surprising thing about that article is this ludicrous factoid:

"In 2016, Martin was ranked No.94 in the league and rocketed to No.2 in his big year."

There was nobody better than Dustin Martin in 2017 by any sensible measure. And there never has been.
