DVD Recorders

does anybody have one? i'm thinking about buying one.

Would be a pretty good alternative to the VHS recorder i reckon.
I assume that you can just pretty much record straight from the tv in the normal fashion.

I dont have one but they dont look bad

For around $500 bucks at BigW is pretty good. Im sure after Christmas they will drop in price. I wouldnt buy one now.

You can buy a normal DVD player for $90 now which is so damn cheep. Im sure the Video player can last a few months longer.

i'm thinking about getting one duty free actually from Singapore or somewhere. The DVD recorders are very much an established technology in the UK, but out here there is an extremely limited range. I went to Bing Lee yesterday and they only had 2 in store. Retra Vision only had 1!

Ive heard that some recorders do not play their discs on other machines, i.e. i cant record on my player for instance and then go to your place and watch it if yours is a different brand.

I wonder how easy it is to edit out the ads, or make chapters and other stuff you cant do with tapes.
