I have tried a few of the DVD rippers about but i dont think that any of them are that good. Can anyone make any recommendations.

There are others out there that are just as good.
It also depends on whether or not you are splitting up Vob files into 2 gb sections. As only NTFS can handle files greater than 4gb. Also if you want to include subtitles, other language tracks etc.
