I'm listening to Dwayne Russell on the radio right now. I think he makes a very good point about Adelaide, I've been saying it all season. He feels the Adelaide list is no better than some other clubs, but somehow Neil Craig has managed to extract a greater committment from his players than other coaches are able to do. Some of the "lesser" Crows players would also be ordinary players at other clubs but they are maximising their potential under Craig at the moment.
Have a point but not quite correct.

Our players are responding to being managed, coached and motivated in a way no one else is.
What you see in Adelaides list is that draft picks mean jack ****,the talent is in every round of every draft, its up to you to identify it and nurture it properly.

Our list is better at this stage than anyone elses because it is managed properly, draft pick 1 is no different to draft pick 65 when you cross that white line when properly managed and trying to say so is clutching at straws.
However draft pick 1 manages better under poor management than draft pick 65

Oh look, to be perfectly honest, unless I am watching the replay, I don't listen to the TV commentators. Once too many times have they given me the absolute s*its. I listen to the radio, it may be biased, but at least it is biased our way.

At half time he agreed Adelaide was on top but said Sydney was only playing at 70% capacity and had more upside than the Crows for the 2nd half. Sounded like he was hopeful of an Adelaide loss by his tone.

I think you can put that down to him remembering who pays his wages. Has to tell the viewing public the game is still alive to keep them tuned into the game when the reality was it was all done and dusted at half time.

Never liked his calls, another one of his classic comments came in the first quarter. We got a free for a throw, very blatant by a Swans player. Dwayne pipes up "I thought he got a PALM to it".

Dermie jumped in "Err.... Dwayne the rules say something about a clenched fist"
You could hear Dwayne "Uh... Er....Yep"

Classic commetary from the tool.

Personally I think commentators can be as biased as they want. Quite frankly I think it would be very difficult to leave any emotions aside, especially in a game invovling your former team. BUT, they should be completely upfront about it, not try to hide behind a false cloak of impartiality and drop snide little remarks the way Dwayne Russell did.

Maybe I was reading too much into things ...... but anyone else detect a note of bitterness in Dwayne's comments yesterday.

Couldn't help but chuck in the odd throwaway line about last year's finals, that Adelaide should have lots of supporters because they got the jump on Port by entering the AFL first, that sort of stuff.

You can take the boy out of Port Adelaide, but you can't take the Port Adelaide out of the boy .....

a fellow commentator also made a comment to Dwayno in the previous game against the Cats along the lines of 'we know what you think of Burton'. Was this referring to Birds less than harmonious relationship with Dwaynes ALberton boys?

Did Dwayne play for Sydney?

I thought he only played for Port in SANFL and the pussies in VFL
Maccasneighbour made a very good point, but poor old Dwayne cant fall back on that one.

I've always thought Dwayne Russell is ok. My impression is that he's always been quite fair in his comments and often complimentary of the Crows.

Nah hes definitely biased. Just as a commentator hes rubbish too. As bad as eddie was when the pies were on, Friday night football has taken a step backwards since Dwayno has taken a leading role instead.

SSSHHHH, don't mention Rooch. BTW, has anyone seen JohnK recently?

it would be a tough choice between you and john dont you think roger? I'd probably just give the edge to john with his humorous articles. Regardless john's gone away for a long, long time. He'll be back though.

It would be different to view the board under your own name, even though almost no one knows who j kingsmill is.

Hmm, a strange post at almost 2am. You're not related to John, are you Zizou? Old drinking buddies perhaps.

John's probably got better things to do with his time than post on this forum every day (unlike me). Perhaps that explains his regular absences. Or maybe he's been hesitant to return since being pwned by Mark Thompson at the Geelong press conferences a couple of weeks ago.
