The Giants salary cap is completely relevant to any discussion surrounding Shiel. Deal with it.

A multitude of print and radio journalists have indicated as such. Sure, you can decide to not take any stock in this, but clearly a number of people far more in the know then you or I seem to think the Giants salary situation is real.

It's my policy not to substantially refute absurd claims where the evidence is "your belief" and "a multitude of journalists".

I accept a high probability you wont understand why.

It is a possibility we may have issues.

Though those "multitude" are not in the know as they never leave their bubble down south.
They are more wrong than right.
They also live off "clicks" as such there's nothing they like more than superstars possibly leaving non vic clubs to go to vic clubs.

Some of the trades for shiel suggested have been shockers imo.

As you mentioned ceglar and 16 isnt going to get it done.

Pick 20(PP) and 26 from carl no chance as well, they have pick 1 to offer though.

Essendon best chance but the best suggestion from a dons fan pick 8, Levrade for Shiel and 23 still not enough imo.

I think essendon will offer 8 straight up and that might get them close but who knows, Carlton might trump everyone with pick 1 straight up.

Ive never brought into the camp that hawks have a shot we just dont have the currency, our only hope is GWS over paying for Ceglar. Gws have plenty to offer us without Shiel being included for Ceglar if they really want him.

GWS want Ceglar mate, we are the sellers with him. They like adelaide with Gibbs have been looking around so will have to give us our asking price. But that has nothing to do with Shiel.

Agree Shiel wont be at hawks we dont have the currency. Carlton in the box seat with pick 1 straight up, able to trump everyone.

We easily have the currency to get it done. We have a full list of players and all our picks, now our first this year may not be as high as the Bombers or Blues but we can definitely get it done.

Its not about fair value. its about presenting best value to GWS. Listen to your smarter Hawk brethren.

FWIW I think he should stay, GWS are in their "window" and are a real chance to go far next year. Even this year had they not been injured.

Would that get it done alone? No, probably not. It could however be the main part of a deal involving the two clubs with us paying most of Ceglar's contract. Now they would most likely want more and i have no doubt the Hawks would be willing to pay it, but that would be a good starting point to a trade.

Yeah spot on if he nominates us we will get it done, thats not what i ment. Just putting the clubs side by side we are at the tail end.

But...

Whether Carlton and Essendon are prepared to offer more then us is yet to be seen.

Yes and that may not just come in the form of picks, as you say they are currently in a premiership window. They still have holes in that list and if they can fix them, while fixing any salary cap issues going forward we can satisfy a deal.

Could be wrong been wrong in the past (Puopolo). Are you saying there no basis to the Ceglar rumors?
Its been around for a while, usually the ones that stick have merit.

Besides the point i doubt he will impact the shiel trade they will be separated imo, if at all.

First ive heard about Scully. Now thats a player id be stoked if hawks recruited!

Best Wing 2 way runner in the comp. No way you guys would let him go. Although Shiel is a gun and some would say possibly a better player you have more of his type.

We are currently contract negotiating with Dawson Simpson, so if he gets another year we have no need for another ruck, the U18 AA ruckman is in our academy and I doubt we will pass on him. We will have Lobb, a 21yo developing ruck in Flynn who is nearly ready to debut plus likely adding Briggs this year. We either need an upgrade on Simpson or back in who we have, Ceglar is not worthwhile.
