Hey all, I am just thought I would put out a call for help in case there were people out here who have more of an idea about foreign trading than I do (which is virtually none).
I work for a US-based company who give employees stock (RSU's, bobuses, a salay share investment plan etc.). They do this through E*Trade, and got us to sign up to an account. Basically, shares show up in our ET account and we can sell them throught that account when we want.
However, given the current exchange rates, I have been considering perhaps investing some money into the US share markets, but to be honest there is a lot I don;t know about. I know I can sell shares, but I don't know if I can buy shares. I don;t know if I will need a US bank account, I don't know what converting currency entails, and I have no idea how tax would work on any of this.
Is there anyone out here who trades in the US and knows what needs to be done to get the ball rolling on something like this? Any info would be appreciated.
