Freeman? What has he done to deserve a game other than injure a hammy! The season start is next week - you are aware of that, I assume? Hasn't escaped your best 22 calculations? Of course, if you don't care about the facts getting in the way .......... .
Imo if he doesn't start getting games hes going to find himself out the door. Second season now after apparently blistering pre season. When the hell is he going to debut? If fit he needs to play.

He might have got blisters but he has hardly set the world on fire in the NAB cup! In fact, he hardly played in the NAB cup.

Id also ask what has De Goey done to warrant a round 1 game. Had a decent debut in NAB 1, apart from that all hes done is beat up a bunch of rookies that we smashed by 20 goals. Wouldn't have him in before Broomhead, Kennedy and the likes.

He'll have 22 other games to impress and play. From all reports he smashed the VFL practice game but hasn't done anything since.

Would still have him as the sub infront of De Goey, but neither would play my round 1.

The less some posters see of certain players, the better the player seems to be in the eyes and memories of those posters. DeGoey has done nothing to warrant a game other than present as our first draft pick from last year. That alone is surely insufficient grounds for round 1 selection!

Yes. He has done a few nice things, but has he justified round 1 selection? Or do we have such a thin list of in-form starters that just about anyone on two legs can get a game?

Well Watching the Dogs Game. He be no worse then anyone from that side

Well that's it then - Adams versus the WB's. I can live with that selection.

We'd probably lose by less than we did the other day. They'd probably pack up at quarter time and have a bbq, giving us a lesser deficit.

Are you serious? He is basically a first year player. Training well doesn't mean he is AFL ready. How is he possibly on the chopping block if he doesn't play most games this year?

How long can he go without debuting?

What is the rush? And if you want to look at it another way its been no games without debuting because he was injured the whole time.

Heath Shaw and Dane swan took a lot longer to play and then to cement themselves in the team.

There's taking time to cement a spot and then there's taking time to debut.

Pretty sure bot of them took 3-4 years to debut. Why do you think getting one game this year would make a difference in the long run for a second year player.

He will debut this year. Doesn't mean he will get consistent games, and if he doesn't he won't be anywhere near the block.
You don't throw away a top 10 pick in what is essentially their first year just because they aren't a best 22 lock immediately.

It takes different time for each player

Honestly, I think it would be dumb not to play him. We need more players in our side that WANT responsibility placed on them. It can't just be Pendlebury again all year. This kid, whether he's truly ready or not, legitimately wants to be given the chance to show whether he's ready or not and comes across as someone who will take it on the chin if he comes up short.

Throw him in Bucks and give him a chance to thrive. Pendles debut was against Brisbane (wasn't it?), keep the future superstar tradition going.

I think DeGoey has ticked all the boxes to get a start RD1, but would only be as sub.
Has not put a foot wrong in his few months at the club and should be rewarded for his impressive pre season.
Plus would be nice to see our first pick from last years draft get a run early after the issues from last year with freeman and the berg.

I may be wrong and happy to be corrected, but VFL doesn't start until the week after does it? So it could be a case of game vs no game. I wouldn't have freeman or de goey in my round 1 side regardless but just thinking
yeah I would rather a seasoned midfielder as sub. most players say round 1 is the toughest as far as cramping and all the rest goes so I'd rather a hardened body. I'd even consider Dwyer.

Dwyer be okay Sub. De Goey is a better player then Dwyer
