Started at 8:30pm. Finishes at 9:30. Anyone turn there lights off? Or are you just one of those that don't give a shit?

I've turned mine off, then look out the window to see a house full of em on.

I wen't for a walk to see if anyone cared, I would have walked past about 5 houses than didn't have any lights on, didn't look like anyone was home in them either.

Was watching a movie with the lights off... but the 50 inch screen probably used up more power in that hour than all the house lights in the street combined.

:o

I never have my lights on at night, except when I am cooking dinner, I don't need lights to watch TV or use the internet, saves me a shitload of money on my power bill. :thumbsu:

Same, electric blankets, heaters, Air con, The works!

Even made sure the kettle was constantly flicked every couple of minutes.

Bloody Earth Hour crap! If everyone followed these simple rules:

If you have a lamp or room light that is on for more than an hour at a time.. switch it to a compact fluorescent.. otherwise all other globes can be incandescent.. especially for rooms you only have on for couple minutes then switch off again (flickin on/off on compact fluoros ruins them after a while.. and brings back their lifespan below incandescents)

Can you afford to switch off that extra light in the corner or something every night.. do you really need the extra one on? Switch it off.. or switch it off earlier than the others every day.. and ya save way more power than this Earth Hour crap and its not inconvenient.

For those out there who actually listen to shitty government brochures on how to save $2.65 per year by turnin your tv off at the powerpoint every night.. you gotta be kidding right? All this sorta inconvenient last few dollars effort is a total waste of time. And if ya really care about going green etc.. invest in a 2kw grid-connect solar power system for ya house which currently receive up to $8k in gov. cashback (until sometime in June).

i didnt even know it was earth day untill the actuall day(yesterday) and didnt know the time, so will have it tonight

Didn't know it was on. Wouldn't have made a difference if I did. Think I was watching Dirty Harry at the time, and had the lights off anyway.

My lights were all off. Nobody was home. :thumbsu:

Although at the party we were at there were lights on in the house, and a strobe light outside, and the tv and stereo were also going.

I know the shopping centre I work at was taking part in Earth Hour...but hey the lights are off when the shops are closed anyway...so what were they achieving:rolleyes:

What is turning lights off for all of one hour per year going to achieve anyway???
