Unfortunately I just don’t see it with Allan. He has the occasional good moment, but it doesn’t happen often enough. Also takes him a while to get into the game, unfortunately averaging around 10 disposals a game doesn’t isn’t gonna do it.

Not a good game, but not a bad game. Just a regular WHE like game for a collingwood winger.

WHE had impact taking contested marks on the wing, in the backline and kicking goals.

Allan just doesn't want it. I wouldn't be surprised if he has anxiety or something and is struggling mentally because any other kid in his position would be fighting like hell to save his career, he just goes through the motions

its pointless being fast if you cant take the ball first time, he fumbles , so when he finally gets control of it, he is under pressure.
if he takes the ball first grab, he can put the afterburners on and create time and space for himself, until he sorts this out, he will never be a permanent member of the side.

Surprised so many want him in the center when he offers nothing physically. Walsh and Cripps going to have a field day
Agree with this. Some posters are smoking something heavy, cos Ed offers nothing physically, and has very poor decision making and flimsy ball handling skills.

The Ed Allen expiriment is over. VFL for the rest of the season the. Delist. 194cm however plays like he is 175cm. Fast but is always jogging around lost. Unfortunately he never got a real crack in the centre by fly. A bit hard done by. However he has more then most to prove himself at afl level. Time to give Parker more of a go and put someone else on the wing.

He doesn’t go in hard enough. I’d still persevere with him though, as this season needs to be part experimental.
I'd wait till the season is a bit - make it a lot - more experimental. When all hope is gone, bring in Ed and throw him in the engine room as the main piston. Until then, let him languish in the VFL.

Seems a bit distasteful to assume someone has a mental illness because they’re not playing on football field the way you want them to.

What's he going to do in the engine room? You need to be sharp mentally, physical and clean with your hands, which are his current deficiencies.

Not to mention giving others a head start to get to where you need to be because you react two steps slower.

He oddly tends to know what to do in the engine room in the VFL but doesnt get much exposure in the seniors because there are blokes ahead of him but tend to agree that he is uncertain even when he gets the chance to play this role at the higher level. Maybe he thinks Pendles and co. will get the job done. It's a bit of a pity because he does have what we like to call AFL traits like speed, ideal size for a mid and pretty reasonable skills when on his game.

I'm not willing to give up on him yet. He just doesn't seem to think he belongs in the best 23 yet.

I wonder whether a way to fix that is to just give him a job to do and turn him into a tagger first up. He has the tank and all the physical attributes. Just seems to spectate too much without a specific job.

I can’t believe no one thought of giving him some instructions until now! Genius.

When your football strength is corralling, you're up against it, even if you're a good runner.

What position does he actually play?
His best game for us from memory was one of the last games of the season in 2024 where he played in the midfield. Has he played there since?

I want this guy to succeed, but my confidence in that happening has dropped off.

He’d be an awesome sheep farmer. Geelong will he keeping an eye on him..
Needs to create a tag team with Schultz, McCreery or Anderson. Ed to corral them and then a beast comes across for the kill.
