Ned never sniffed a 32 pressure act game then. It’s just not a comparison I see. People are praising Allan addressing a serious deficiency in his game in defensive work, I don’t get what is hard to comprehend there

Great that he’s worked on one deficiency, still plenty more to go before he’s an AFL midfielder.

I reckon Fly's happy with Ed's game, 32 pa against WC who's pa was through the roof last week. 7 tackles, a pressure goal at half time to extend the lead and shadowing Harley in the second half. As previously mentioned, after training all year in white is getting burnt a lot. Once his team mates start to handball out off congestion to Ed's advantage we will see the run and carry we've come to expect in the VFL.

One thing I will say I noticed about Ed's game: he quickly got himself into good spots for a pass by foot, but this was rarely honoured by his teammate with the ball.

It was a promising game I thought. Ned with pace and better disposal would be valuable. It's what we can realistically hope for in the short term from Ed.

And he wouldn’t have finished that goal the way Allan did on the run from nearly 50 around the corner too.

His game is building.
I think Fly is starting to trust him and his skillset on where his value is best suited.

Apart from Swadling… not many vfl mids knocking the door down.

For the rest of the season Allan likely to remain in the mix… he will continue to get ample opportunities based off vfl form, poor midfield depth and senior players injured/rested.

Some of the previous fringe pies players over the years (who were then delisted)… could only dream of the opportunity Allan repeatedly gets.

I think we're seeing the signs we wanted to see - just 12 months later than we probably hoped. Coming off that really promising final game in '24 against the Dee's, I think we were hoping we would see extended patches of him as an inside mid last year - obviously didn't transpire that way in 2025, but what we've seen the last few weeks has been promising!

I think he has more upside in that position than Ned and AA - so I'd persist with me until his form, or that of someone else, really demands his removal from the role/side.
