Every chance he will get the rising star nom.
Probably not, they usually like to give it to a player who has strung a few games together. Maybe Leuenberger from tonight who held their ruck together in the absence of Charman will get it.

The draw could be a blessing in disguise. By the looks of things we could end up finishing 5th which could end up seeing us play Brisbane anyway. And i'd fancy my chances against them.

We didn't win tonight due to our inaccuracy which kept Brisbane in it. We dominate the contest for a good 70% of the match apart from a few Brisbane cameo's like the start of the 3rd when they we able to get some run going.

Brisbane in the 1st week of the finals on our turf? Peice of cake. :thumbsu:

But having said that, we should still be aiming for top 4 anyway, which is achievable. Looks like a few teams above us will be dropping points regardless tomorrow.
Figured out on the ladder predictor, if we win the last two games, we're more likely fourth or fifth now rather than as before, third or fourth. I don't reckon it's too bad a thing. I'd rather be playing Geelong than West Coast in an away qualifier. The teams would be an equal challenge, but the Perth journey would take it out of us more. Then if we lose we have a home elimination which should be more than winnable in any case.

Of course, we have to win the last two games first, but to be honest, if we don't win these next two we're unlikely to do much in the finals anyway.

Probably right, Leuenberger was pretty good.

Went to school with cheese. Has always been his nickname. He is a natural athelete very fit and quick. His footy looks to have improved even more!

Awesome first game, the best debut I can recall for a while as far a swans players go. Stepped up well from the little league, just needs to adjust to the pace a little I think, other than that did not look out of place at all.

How likely is he to retain his spot now? If we could get a game like that out of him for the rest of the year surely you would have him in? Not sure who would go out for when/if Kennelly, Leo, LRT come back in.

BTW, did anyone else find it annoying how the commentator kept going "The Rookie, Ed Barlow"

I have said in another thread that we should have promoted Cheese earlier however that doesnt matter. Really good debut and i hope it continues next week. Also thinmk he deserves rising star nomination for the round.

Haha am I a good tip or what. Really good debut, deserves rising star nomination. And yes I did find it annoying how he said "The rookie" because he isnt! btw, very annoyed at the draw, as bad as a loss. Well done Cheese!

“He is the work-horse, always leading up the ground towards the ball-carrier.

“He is pretty versatile in that wing-flank role, whether forward or back. At 194cm he is a really good height for those types of positions.

“He is a rare sort of player with his height and athletic ability. He is the best endurance runner at the club and in the top five for speed.

Ed was super fit but didn't do very well at academic things. I remember the cross country a couple of years ago, he accidentally ran an extra lap of the oval, and still won by a couple of minutes. But he was a nice bloke though and was never arrogant, no matter how good he did in everything.

Sounds like a nice guy. From the reports ive read over the past few days if anything Barlow needs more confidence in his own ability and actually needs to become more arrogant to fully realise his potentual. How often can you say that about any sportsperson :D

I wasn't in his class, he is a year older then me. I was just judging him on the fact that he got a "Participation" award in both Maths and English, so I assumed he wasn't smart, but I guess I was mistaken, good for him.
