I still don't buy he was stopping Wright's run. He had handballed to a player in space, he was never getting the ball back. Eddie knew this as he was running with whoever it was Wright gave it to until he decided to line him up. He had to have known there was noone else around to help him.

And if he wanted to stop his run he could have either bumped whilst keeping his feet on the ground or just blocked his path. Nah, he wanted to hurt him.

My point is basically that the hit wasn't as bad as some have made out. Betts had the right idea, right intention, one aspect of his execution was off.

He took out Wright AFTER he had disposed of the ball Cheap snipe simple as that Even if Wright was injured, it was still a free down field

While we're here, let's talk about Razor's umpiring - not only for that incident, but for the Sippos one. Ignores Sippos clearly being illegally harrassed in front of goal, pays a free the other way, THEN a 50m when none of our players can understand why Sippos isn't getting the free. That results in a quick forward entry to Carlton, and a goal.

This at a crucial point in the match, leading to a 12 point turnaround. If Sippos kicks that goal, it's the steadier, possibly the sealer that saps the last gasp of hope from the Blues. They kick that goal, it gives them the wind up to go for a final flurry that nearly wins them the game.

You could easily mount a case that, that one poor decision very, very, very nearly changed the result of the game.

(Mods, I leave you to decide whether this post stays here or goes to the umpiring thread)

And wasn't it Razor's poor umpiring decision against the Crows that stopped their run and momentum against the Hawks? Very poor decisions at crucial times can have a huge effect.

Spot on. I listened with agony to SEN on the run home. The bump is dead . It was a late snipe - period. Kelly on Goddard - an unecessary snipe and he left the ground - suspension every day of the week - period. Kosi - unnecessary block and high - take your medicine. Zeibell left the ground with a flying shoulder bump - you only leave the ground to contest the ball with your hands - not your hip and shoulder running with the flight. Take your medicine and don't whinge when they offer you 2 weeks and you risk 4. stop sooking Nth Melb and take your medicine. Just ask Bakes who got 7 weeks because Sheldon couldn't keep his mouth shut.

The problem is that the MFP got Lindsay Thomas wrong (should have gone for a late snipe off the ball) and Morris from Richmond wrong who shouldn't have gone (fair shepherd but the Colingwood bloke did a Kosi and wasn't watching).

According to some idiot on SEN Nathan Wright broke his own jaw.... Eddie Betts didn't get him high at all!
