My wife is not a footy fan and rarely watches footy on tv but decided to "suffer" the 1st half of the game last night.

Her comment to me was "Gee Eddie gets more excited when Richmond do things like getting goals than he does for the Crows. The only time he seemed to get as excited for the Crows was when that blonde guy [Bock] kicked his first goal!" [She then retired to the lounge and went to sleep!]

I have noticed that, apart from Collingwood thing, Eddie does show more excitement/favourtism for the Melbourne sides over the the Interstate sides.

I didn't really notice it myself.

Richmond were playing catch-up all night. So it would be understandable for a neutral fan to get more excited about the Tigers' goals.

I have observed this myself on other occasions, and as I said not just with Crows games.

I must admit he lost that edge in the 2nd half!

[but I agreed with his comments about that moron who was seen spitting]

In fairness to Eddie, I'm sure he was hoping for Richmond to pile on a heap of goals.

Friday night footy is the flagship of Channel Nine's footy telecasts each week, and the ship was sinking!!! :p

I'm sure it was more about wanting a competitive game for ratings rather than wishing any malfortune to Adelaide.

Mind you, if it had been a Collingwood match, that would have been a totally different story - it must be very difficult to call in a non-excited manner when you're sitting there with an erection!! ;)

Yesss ? please do go on macca = ...... . .... ... ....

Just about all the Victorian commentators are in the same boat regards their up/down level of excitement in their voices when a Vic club is playing a club from interstate & at least we were able to watch the game at a decent time slot.

Anyone have any idea what the big punch-up between KG & Fish Head was about on the friday night 5aa sport show ??

This anti-Eddie hype is so over-rated and overblown it's beyond a joke. There have far more biased commentators in the caper - Drew Morphett used to be so painfully anti-Crows it could give you a migraine - and what about his lordship Don Scott?

I actually don't mind Eddie and think he does a decent job - he loves watching McLeod in full flight and he was full of plaudits for the likes of Stinger and Bocky in his first game.

Get over it.

why do people worry so much about eddie?

Stop looking for reasons to have a go at him, surely there are other people that get a bit more excited over other teams. There wont be someone that loves every single team out that and that will treat them equals. Dismiss the commentary and watch the game.

Points taken - will move on!!- wasn't trying to create a big deal out of it

I'm not actually an Eddie basher, and overall enjoy his commentary. The wife actually thinks he's a hunk!

dzm

When Eddie isn't calling Collingwood games, IMO, he's one of the best TV commentators at the moment. If I had a choice of Eddie ANYONE from the Channel 10 team, I'd pick Eddie anyday.

IMO, the Channel 10 commentators are a disgrace to the AFL, and are the most uneducated bunch of ****ers to have commentated this great game. Look at Robert Walls and Anthony Hudson (THE Two WORST commentators in the history of the AFL).

Then there's Gerard Healy (who thinks that every time an Adelaide player tackles someone they should receive a life ban, no wonder Channel 9 dumped him).

When I've heard Eddie call Adelaide games, he's been fantastic. Those who criticise him are as uneducated as the Channel 10 commentators.

well said...
I didn't get to watch all of our game yet, but I didn't notice anything too wrong with his comments, yeah of course he's going to get excited when the underdog gets a goal. Personally, like what has been said, i enjoy his comments as long as its not in a Collingwood game. He's by far better than all the other tools.

I thought it was an excellent call by Eddie and the boys

They had a lot of fun and kept it interesting for a game that was pretty poor as only one side turned up

All that Bock stuff was funny.

I like Eddie as a commentator other than in Collingwood games

Eddie is far worse in Collingwood and/or Brisbane games, imo.

They only complaint i had about their coverage was too much focus on the losing coach. Very little talk about anything else.
