Edfl odds - grand final

I reckon its a bit closer than that. more like 1.80 to 2.00.

Cora Lynn have the home ground advantage, which should never be underestimated. Although they should not, they will also get their home rooms because the league has no spine to tell them they didnt finish on top so they cant have them. Already seen this at Koo Wee Rup with the magoos.

There is no way they should be allowed into their comfort zone, but Gallasch and Gwinne will not say anything.

I was out at the ground for a look today and it is superb. Will be a great day. Too bad it is in the middle of the country with not even a bus going that way. The decision by the EDFL is great due to a great surface, however the fact that there hasnt been any public transport to the ground in 80 years leaves a lot to be desired.

Any of the grounds along the railway would have done just fine, with Bunyip, with it's redevelopment the only exception. More thought needs to go into next year's game, and beyond.

Just my opinion.

I have nothing against the Grand Final being played at Cora Lynn. It is head and shoulders the best ground in the league in terms of both atmosphere and playing surface.

As for them having the home rooms, that is bullshit. Nilma have finished on top and won the second semi so obviously should have the home rooms. I would be surprised if that is not the case plugger.

Agree that is it the best surface in the comp. But the problem is with an absolute lack of public transport, punters who wish to imbibe will need to organise a ride and have no other means of getting there.

In the reserves in the first week of the finals, surkin, Koo Wee Rup, who finished 5th, were in their own home rooms against Darnum who had finished 4th.

The reality is, surkin, that with Cora Lynn reserves being first into the grand final, they also have fair and reasonble "dibs" on the home rooms. What do you think they will do? Put the reserves in the home rooms and the seniors in their away rooms?

NO WAY, NO HOW.

Easily the best surface in the comp, although Longwarry was very good on Saturday. In regards to public transport, there is really only Longwarry and Bunyip that are within walking distance of a train station, so that is erally a mute point. There is no other ground in the league that has the capacity to hold the amount of people that Cora Lynn does. I have watched the last 3 edfl grand finals and numerous WGFL finals and no other ground comes close to the atmosphere. The thing that helps is the pine trees that surround the ground to almost create a stadium effect and no other ground can hold as many cars around the ground either. The visitors rooms aren't really much different to the home rooms, maybe a little smaller. I don't think it will bother us either way, I would say that both seniors and reserves would be in the same rooms. As for Home ground advantage, I think that out of all the teams in the league, we have the least amount, how many people wake up on a Saturday morning going Geez I wish I wasn't playing at Cora Lynn today!

Nar Nar Goon within walking distance. Garfield also within walking distance and completely neutral. Mid Gippy playing theirs at Moe. North Gippy playing theirs at Traralgon. Alberton playing theirs at Foster.

Omeo played theirs at Ensay.

Surely could easily work something out with Garfield. Western park is also a short walk. I walked it last week. Took 15 mins.

The other thing. I looked at parking today out there and Id reckon that I will be parking on the road by lunch time. Not much at all.

Having said all that, surface is great. Will be a great day with the top 2 teams competing for the flag. Nothing wrong with that.

Last time I checked Foster was in the alberton league, Alberton should play theres at leongatha. They would double the crowd and bar sales but they wont to keep the crap eastern clubs happy.

I said 2 years ago it should be at garfield, used to be at drouin until the 80's. But then money is going out of the league unless they would let you run the canteens.

It should always be at cora lynn, takes the home ground advantage away if its there every year, bit like warragul in the 90's. Its the best surface, best atmosphere, you can watch from anywhere, close to casey/cardi which means far bigger crowds and money for the clubs, best parking, good canteen and bar set up, good change rooms for both teams. Ticks all the boxes.
Surely if your team is playing you get buses and if not someone has a wife or girlfriend that should do the driving duties.
Public transport on the highway for about 5 clubs, doesnt help from nyora, poowong, LL, kwr, catani, ellinbank, NNS, buln, cora lynn so i dont think thats a big deal.

Parking won't be an issue will be parked 3 deep around the ground from the 50 metre arc on eastern side around to the scoreboard and the paddock to the right as you drive in will be open for parking.

If they use the paddock it will be ok. Plenty of parking then. Was just thinking how they would get all the punters parking off the road.

Maybe the EDFL could organise shuttle buses from the railway stations every hour. God knows they spend their money on shit, now. Wouldn't dent the budget too much, I would think. Could also get a bus for the southern teams like Poowong and Nyora. One of the bus-lines may well even sponsor the comp and clubs if they worked on it hard enough.

I know Foster is in the AFL. But it is a neutral ground for the participants on this occasion.

And Tumbleweed, either get off 'em or double the dose, pal.

So ya havent been to either of the last 2 GF's at cora lynn plugger? You will probably change your thoughts after going to one there, no ground in the league matches it. Parking is tough anywhere in finals but cora lynn has as much as any ground.

Isnt getting driven to the footy by a wife or missus one of the reasons to have one? Thats there job.

No, Leo. I have never been to a senior EDFL Grand Final. Went a few years ago to Bunyip to watch our thirds, but left soon after.

I think I have mentioned here somewhere before that if my club isnt playing I seem to lose interest. But I will be there this year. May be the last EDFL game I see, too.

My missus will be driving, too. But I will need to be plastered to put up with it.

That was about 2002 wasnt it?

EDFL GF's are massive, I reckon crowds are bigger than CC or Alberton. Will be huge this year with Nilma playing and NNG in the 2's, plus bunyip and long in u/18's. This sat the weather about 25 should be a good perve as too.

Grand Final crowds would be bigger if 4 leagues werent playing on the one day! North Gippy had 1500 more paying adults last year than ever before, the reason was Mid Gippy played the previous week. Would have been nice for a couple of leagues at least try out a Sunday Grand Final this year, gives the league the chance to make a buck, and another day of footy for the punters. Would have liked to have been at Ellinbank GF this week.

You haven't been to a country league gf until you've been to one at Cora Lynn!

I remember when they moved the West Gippy to Nar Nar Goon a few years ago. There was absolutley no atmosphere whatsoever. Also reported in the Paky Gazette today that Nilma Darnum will have the home rooms on Saturday, also Nar Nar Goon will have them for the 2's.

Lucky the gf is on today, trained last night in about an inch of water just sitting on top of the ground. Ground will come up a treat for Saturday though. 23 and wind on Friday will dry it up and then Saturday it will be like playing footy on a bowling green.

I saw Warragul win a GF against NNG in the mud, shocking game of footy. There was also 1 at Cora Lynn that was a mud heap too, rained about 2 inches that day i reckon.
Yeah Warragul beat Garfield in 03 at Goon in the mud. I think about 12 goals were scored.

Same deal year after at Cora Lynn with Garfield beating Warragul with about 12 goals being scored.
