Effective disposal should be judged as a disposal that advantages the receiver, not a 50/50 on top of their head kick
Kicking to Cloke in a one on one is an effective disposal.

David King on Fox Footy showed a really interesting graphic during the Melbourne v Brisbane game on the weekend.

It showed Melbournes disposal efficiency in each 3rd of the ground when moving the ball out of defence.

Seeing it represented like that really brings to light where the quality in their team drops off. They were in the top 3 teams from defence and through the middle and 18th going inside 50.

How much better do you think the Pies would be?

I think our delivery into the 50 would show a weakness for us.

Disposal efficiency isn't quite the be all and end all, as it is skewed towards those who handball more and at a guess I'd say the average AFL player has about a 90% handball efficiency. I'd love to see our kicking efficiency stats if anyone can find them, that seems to be what really lets us down.
the other thing that needs to be taken into account is quick kicks out from stoppages just to get the ball rolling forward. EG0 Pendles / Beams / Swan
