Okay, here is my opinion on the election.

I hope they get it over with damn quickly because it's a real pain in the ass. Joe Gutnick goes on about wanting the best for the club bla bla bla, when if he wants to do that he should have sttod down at the end of the year and left it at that.

All this court stuff is going WAAAAAAAAAY over the top and just making things worse than they already are.

So.........I don't care how they go about it and what they do, I WILL not support Joe come the election. the other team (forgot their name, lol.) has got good plans and I hope they win. And Joe can get stuffed!

I don't hate him. He has contributed to the Club. I just don't think he is the right person to be the President of a football club.

On second thought, hate is a bit too strong a word.

Okay, he DID save the club from a merger and all, but he sacked Schwab and really has not done alot since then.

No he did not save the Club from merger, the Hawthorn Members saved the Club from merging. Over 50% of MFC Members were in favour of a merger. If you want to thank anyone, then thank Don Scott.

The voting at the merger ... just for starters.....surely even you by now knows what happened....I have told you enough times....you have visited Demonology and obviously you do not ask questions, or even read some reports on the voting.....PLEASE!!!

What future have we with people who don't look at what happens at the club, and just gather their information from bits and pieces they read....

Exactly.

But, why did the majority of Melbourne members vote for the merger? Because you were all being mislead, just like you are being mislead now. Nobody knows the full story behind the scenes and the media only releases what the media feels like releasing.

The AFL's "vision" hasnt changed since 95. They may be waiting for the wounds to heal from the 96 merger debacle, but it's still in their long term plans to have only 6 teams remain in Victoria with the rest either relocating or seeking a merger.

Now, isnt it ironic that 3AW and The Herald Sun (main supporters of the merger back in 96) are the same people who seem to be supporting Team Vision and the overthrow of Gutnick now. Isnt it ironic that both 3AW and The Herald Sun are deeply assosiated with the AFL and their "long term plans"? It's all falling into place for them and us members are again being mislead.

The main reason that Team Vision is avoiding any merger questions is because over half of their ticket voted for the merger! Team Vision may not be the exact board we had in 96, but you could call them a sister-board with the same players/officials backing them that backed the merger in 96.

Why do they all want to get rid of Joe? Because he symbolises a stand alone Melbourne club and is totally against the AFL's long term merger plans. The AFL wants a board willing to work with them and not somebody who is totally unaccepting of anything to do with mergers. The AFL wants a "Melbourne" who will at least contemplate becoming a "Melbourne Saints" or a "Melbourne Kangaroos" in the future. Joe wants nothing to do with a "Melbourne Saints" or a "Melbourne Kangaroos" and he is the only one who can give us the stability to remain the "Demons".

So, go ahead and send your proxies in for Team Vision, but remember that a vote for Team Vision is a vote for a possible future merger.

That is just scare tactics and you know it. As for your points about 3AW and the Herald Sun, how can you be so sure? They are not taking sides as such, they are more just reporting on the issues.
The AFL does not want mergers now. They need a 16 team competition and that will only happen if the current clubs survive.

3aw come under the banner of Broadcom

The AFL PAID Broadcom hundred and thousands of dollars during the merger to facilitate the union of the Hawks and Dees.
3aw have a vested in the afl. Its in their interests to support the afl. You just have to listen to 3aw to see who they side with.
Gerard Healy in particular is very biased towards TV and so is Steve Price - Manager. They are also about promioting afl into Sydney and Brisbane. 3aw have brought 2ue and 4bc and spread their gospel over there.
Joe is on the straight and narrow and will not tolerate corruption.
The afl is certainly not on the straight and narrow. They warned/ordered Joe off associating with Melbourne before the merger, but he did not want to listen.
For heavens sake wake up Aust.!

I listen to Steve Price and the Melbourne Election is hardly raised. He wouldn't care anyway!
 
Steve Price....

Did speak on this matter numerous times from May onwards, but because of his position and because he is running the station and is always being accused of pushing the merger, running Joe into the ground, has lately "wisely" stayed away from the matter.

Dont forget that Price has a few things hanging over his head and he would be stupid to be seen pushing against Joe now, when he's running the station...as he did for the merger.
