I heard the rumour last night on chanel 10 that Matthew Elliot wants to play for the redbacks next season. Anyone heard anything else about this???
also it looks like andy flower has pretty much signed with the redbacks for next season.

i'm not in favour of players switching states. i think it detracts from the tribalism that is state v state rivalry. but i spose its just life. hope this never happens to international cricket though.

It may become reality if the social and political landscape of Zimbabwe keeps heading down the same track. Andy Flower would be playing for SA next summer more for the fact he won't be in Zimbabwe, rather than to develop his cricket.

The thing is Elliot has supposebly said he wants to move to adelaide while blewett has said he is more than happy here in adelaide.

Not impossible, but unlikely. Hussey and Maher are the only established regular openers in domestic cricket who are under 30. Cox, Blewett, Slater and Elliott may have slightly better records over time, but that's when it becomes a question of what's most important - i.e. How does the age gap of three to four years compare to the extra 5 runs these blokes might average.

Of the untried, I'd say Hussey ahead of Maher in the Test team, with Blewett the most likely of the previously discarded.

Must be an Adelaide thing, because both Elliott and Hookes have laughed off any suggestions of Matty leaving.

good point. The first I had heard of the elliott issue was on here today.It has not been in the advertiser or on tv over here. What beatup ? I heard the blewett one on the news a few weeks back.

As opposed to Fitzgerald, Johnson, Deitz, Higgs, yes ok I reluctantly agree this would be a better batting lineup. ( We are dreaming though arent we)
