Just for interests sake, thought you'd like to know that Michael Embley is looking a lot bigger this year, he has apparently put on about 10kgs of muscle over the past year, which at my estimate would put him at 197cm and about 92kg.
He's recovered from a fractured pelvis and is apparently raring to go - should be interesting to check his form for Swan Districts early this year.
With this extra mass he looks a quality KPP prospect.

Good news indeed.

Can't help but think that we may have an embarrassment of riches in talls within the next 2 seasons.

Anyone know if Embley Jnr could play down back?

I saw him in one of the practice games last year and I thought he looked very quick and agile for his size. Will be interesting to see if he can break into the side over the next year or two. I thought he might have been finished after he did his pelvis, glad to hear he is ok.

I didn't have the chance to take in many Swan Districts colts matches last year :p
but it's worth the question - I might just see if there are any diehard Swans fans out there who can find out.

He better be in good form in 2005, as he will be a required player in the Black Ducks senior side.

Delisting and the movement of AFL players plus vital players retiring, has left the Black Ducks cupboard pretty bare. Hopefully they try to encourage the local players rather than sending the cheque book over to Victoria like Subi and the North Perth Royals.

I will keep my eye on Junior during 2005.

We who watch WAFL Colts should get a look at the youngest Embley in the Colts for Swans next season.

Is the next Morton due for a run this season? Must be close.

i have my reservations on micheal but i hope like hell he makes the grade. didnt do much before his injury this year, he very young for a rookie spot last year so hopefully he will mature and become a quality KPP.

does anyone know what position he would be suited to. i dont really like the idea of him rucking for various reasons.

i thought that the club showed great faith in taking him at such a young age. he's still got a long wat to go in growth and development. i'll be interested to see who he plays in the WAFL next year.

a fractured pelvis has got to hurt.

During the State Schoolboys, James showed that he is a quality person and that he has the right ticker. His attack on the football is fantastic and this alone would enable him a crack at colts after the 16's championship. On skills and positioning he will learn- there are a few better at his age! However we must remember he is only 15 and from 15's to Colts there is a lot of developing and change to occur.
But as usual Mick you are an accurate and learned observer.

I remember playing basketball against James a few years ago and i as was very impressed. At the time i think he was about 13 and he was running with us 15 year olds no problem.

He moves very much like Andrew, or did, was tall for his age and very fast and fit. Fairly skilled basketballer too. Great attitude, great kid.

yeh there is. i meant he was young for a rookie list spot. which means he wasnt that young compared to some other draftees. he was the oldest of waters, butler and mcconnell. rookies cant be 17 and Embley turned 18 just before the cut off date.

Yet if he was wearing red, purple, green and white not only would he look like a tosser but he would be the next Wayne Carey.

Coming from the Black Duck angle, if he doesn't play regular senior games at WAFL level this coming season, I would start to wonder if he is going to make the grade.

Having said that, if you can't make the senior 22 at the Black Ducks in 2005, something is wrong.

I had forgotten all about Embers II. Good to hear he's recovered from the fractured pelvis. Very nasty injury, that one.

The next Morton, Jarryd may get a few games in for the Claremont Colts next season, when not playing for Hale, while the youngest, Cale may step up and play for our Firsts next year as a year 10. With Cale looking a very promising AFL pick up in a few years!
