yea i thought if would've been Graham who copped it the worst, but this is seriously bad news, for club and player.

He's been such an improved footballer, one would hate for him to cop an injury lose confidence and completely pack it in........ :(

It will also probably cost him an AA spot and a chance at B&F as he would've been borderline at the moment.

Well he didn't really hurt it in the contest with Mark Graham, it was in the aftermath when he was rolling/sliding on the ground and the left shoulder went bang into the ground.

It sounds like he damaged his AC Joint/collarbone according to medico's on the television last night when it happened, so that is very bad news for the club and Embley himself, as he is our strongest marking target in the team in the both 50m arcs, defensive and attacking.

Will be very sorely missed in his time out of the team. Hopefully its 4 weeks tops and not the 6 weeks predicted, but we also don't won't to rush him back early and inflict more damage to the injury.

Get well soon Sir Embers, we need you!

Tough break for Embley

The West Coast Eagles got the win they were looking for, but the bad news from the game against Hawthorn at Subiaco on Friday night was that Andrew Embley has a broken collarbone and could miss up to six weeks of football.

Embley was taken to ground in the ninth minute of the last term in a Adrian Cox tackle and came up with his left arm hanging limply at his side.

He was assisted from the ground and it was confirmed after the match that he had suffered a break.

Embley has been one of West Coast’s most impressive players so far this season, his hard-running and accurate kicking becoming an integral part of the midfield.

Coming into this game, Embley had played every game this season and was second on the team’s goal-kicking list, second in marks, fourth in kicks and seventh in handballs.

In three and a bit quarters on Friday night, Embley collected 21 possessions and a team-high eight marks before the injury.

Coach John Worsfold said Embley was terrific before he was forced off, ranking him alongside inspirational captain Ben Cousins.

“Probably, yeah – I mean, it’s hard to really get a feel in the box for who you’d say is your best player, but Embley, in terms of the way he was playing, was outstanding in his workrate,” Worsfold said.

The coach said he had no doubt that Embley’s increased focus and desire this season would get him through the injury in time to play again this year.

“It’s a massive blow for Andrew, but one that he’ll recover from pretty well, given his commitment to his footy,”

“I’ve got no doubts that he’ll play some more good footy for us this year.”

shiiiiit thats a massive blow for Embers :(

we really need him to be firing by finals time, but coming back from a pretty long injury can sometimes leave a guy flat....

its a harsh break no doubt, lets just hope he can ease back into training so when the time comes, he is fully fit for his return match. also lets hope that lack of match fitness doesn't come back and bite him on the bum come finals time, the tempo rises for the big games and hopefully he will be able to follow it comfortably and not be flat as BT said.

Devastating news. That means three of our Super Six midfield are out of action for a lengthy time. When Andrew left the ground you could tell he feared the worst. It is up to the rest of the team to really step up for the next few weeks.

Dean Cox was fantastic last night in Gardi's absence.
Chicky came back to replace Fletch.
But I was racking my barins last night to think who we have on the list to replace Embers - and could not find anyone with his size and running ability combined. Any ideas??

the only possible good news is that he will be back for our finals run.

gardiner, fletcher and now embley. if cuz goes down next week i'm going to have to hire a voodoo witchdocter to watch over the team.

Rowan Jones is a pretty good mark, and can run as well. But he is already in the team, so I feel his role will adapt to take some of the workload Embers leaves behind.

As for someone who can come into the team to take his place I am not to sure. It won't be a new face we haven't seen this year thats almost certain (too close to finals time to be tinkering around). So of the players to come in it will probably be Adkins/Humm/Carroll or someone along the lines of them.

Scary to think they are our best options. Injuries are really starting to test our depth. Hopefully McIntosh, Chambers or Seaby will get a run ahead of those guys.

that reminds me, what happened to mcintosh last night, i thought he was going to get a gig after the 7 goals he kicked in the wafl the week before. team balance i guess, but i suspect he should come back into the team next week (especially if it is a choice between him or caroll)

We have the depth to cover these losses. As good as embers has been this year, we'll bring another player in depending on the opposition were playing. Collica and staker will no doubt keep their places and are both tall running types.

Could even bring in lynch for a run ??

Bad luck for embey hope he makes a speedy recovery. Im sure someone else can step up and really work hard in his place. GO Eagles!!!!!!!!

Luke, I don't think you yet realise Embley's importance to the force.

He is the only player we have who other team's just can't match up on (except Judd on a big day, but we can't expect them to happen all the time). Either too tall, too fast, too much endurance, too tough or too something for any opponent.

Our dearth of reliable tall forwards makes him even more important as he can bob up and take a mark in the forward line when we are breaking down up there (as he did on Friday night).

So our 3 most important players atm are injured with reasonably serious injuries - Gardy, Fletch & Embers. Being positive, "they'll be fresh for Finals".

Let's hope it's only 4 weeks.

I'd have to Add Cuz, Kerr and Judd to that trio.
