Emergencies for Round 24

Apologies if this has already been covered in other threads but I'm just wondering what the story was Hams and Brett Jones.

They were named as emergencies for the Crows game, (along with Strijk whose WAFL club had a bye) weren't selected, but didn't play for their WAFL sides either? It really hasn't done either of them any favours.

my best guess was they were pulled out in case one of the players felt they were unable to play.

we now know smith was carrying in hamstring tightness into the game, which could be the reason to him being put on stand-by.

darling didn't look crash hot first game back, maybe he's still feeling sore and they pulled hams out in case he felt he could not get through a full game.

or maybe it was due to the wet weather/putting hams on standby as talls do not do well in the wet..... tactical late change.....

Yeah I guess they kept Bones on stand by if they weren't feeling confident about the weather and the talls
