Australia are like Hawthorn with the umps.
Free dismissal Aussies.
England have had a lot of on-field umpire calls favour them in the previous two tests, it has evened up this test though.

Yeah just like the poms to get up and about from an inevitable draw in a dead rubber
On a typical slow flat English style wicket, which suits their little medium pacers to a tee.

Thats not funny. If they can check for a no ball and reverse they can bloody check snicko. Its a farce

Why? If a batsman is too incompetent to know that he's hit it, he deserves to be out.

Vince was somewhat forgivable, but not even Bomberfan4000 would've been as dim as Malan.

Watch one of the greatest ODI centuries of all time as Michael Bevan single handedly destroys the Kiwis.

I remember that game, was there with my Dad and he suggested we leave at 6/80 and I said with Bevan there we were still a shot. Such an epic finish.

Lucky enough to be there. The roar of the crowd when he hit the last boundary was insane.

Didn't Bichel hit the winning runs?

Was right about Bird being a shit truck, no wickets with a ton up.

He's been shit this test, but unfortunately with Pattinson injured he's the next best option we've got.

If Starc is still injured next test why not give Sayers a go, he can't be any worse.

Bichel hit two 4s in the final over off pie chucker Shane Bond to win, yes.
I recall watching this with my next door neighbour. She was barracking for NZ and we had that very same conversation.
She said it was all over and I said not while Bevan is still there.

Maybe, but Bird's overall record is good and this could be an aberration.

You'd only try Sayers in a dead Sydney test though, not SA in a few months.

We need Patto_Man back badly though. Guys like Sandhu and Paris haven't really come on unfortunately.

Bond wasn't a pie chucker, he was a gun. Could've been anything if his body held up.

I know, I was trying to get Kiwi fans to bite ;)

Definitely Bevan - weird sorta cover drive that went to third man in front of Bay 13

Unless Bichel was one of those weird people that bowled right and batted left
I bat and bowl right handed and throw left handed, it is indeed weird.

We've done what England have done all season picked 130-135km swing/seamer in Bird on a pitch that doesn't suit. Another shitty docile drop in and he's ineffective. He's a quality bowler that's getting little out of this surface admittedly not bowling great as well.

Sayers will be the same on a similar surface. He's even slower, often in the high 120's. So he relies on moving the ball even more. If he's bowling straight deliveries then he's just another McDonald or Hastings.

Both should be in the 2019 Ashes touring party, both have dominated in the Duke ball shield trials.
For 2019 I'd go Sayers, Starc, Bird, Hazlewood, Tremain/Behrendorff and Lyon. Would omit both Cummins and Patto.

Pace attack in fast bouncy conditions. Swing attack in swinging conditions.

A Victorian. I’m shocked to be sitting here...

Blame the ground staff. Preparing something that actually offers anything seems to be too hard. Mustn't gouging the MCC members enough.

The pitch has been f***ed for years, I doubt they even do it on purpose, they just don't know the solution.

Perth will be a good test for drop-in pitches, the MCG has been a failure, Adelaide a success (though D/N greentops have probably helped with that perception), Perth succeeding would be a good indicator that the MCG need to start from scratch on that front. Fortunately our new curator is the guy currently at the WACA. :drunk:

He's also (when fit) the 4th best seamer in the country. He's not going to get picked when we're at full strength, but with the amount of games that Starc misses, that back-up option is important.
