There's something very amusing about England's 58 run loss in their one-day tour match against the ACB Chairman's XI today.

They lost despite they advantage of two reserve players compared to the Chairman's XI one.

They lost despite their opposition containing a couple of old-timers in David Hookes and Wayne Clark, neither of whom have played first class cricket in over a decade.

And finally Kade Harvey, essentially a bowler nothing more than a handy batsman, scored a century at much faster than run-a-ball pace.

Oh and Brad Hogg took 5 wickets, need I go on?

yea thats pretty disgraceful, i thought that game was tomorrow. o well.

Also, noticed there that England played 13 and ACB XI played 12.

England's team was not all that under strength either with only Vaughan and Gough the notable absentees.

From their last test against India only Vaughan, Cork (who isn't touring) and Tudor (who isn't touring either) were missing from this team today. Gough didn't play that test (injured??).

Tudor is apparently spending the winter/summer on call at the AIS in Adelaide...Gough apparently won't be able to play the first two tests due to knee surgery (why bring him?)

as far as laughable goes...it was a practice match, don't mean poop!

I thought aht Harmisson had little control of his line after watching his only Test appearance this summer where he was generally aplauded for his performance whilst he seemed to drag about 2 balls an over way down leg side (the Indians left them would the Aussie batsmen?).So his managing to bowl 16 wides in only 7 overs doesn't really fill me with confidence.

These games don't really mean much but would the Aussies be rolled over in such a fashion by such a side(some smart arse will probably now inform me that Teh Duchess of Norfolk's II did exactly that during the last Ashes tseries in England:D )

The worrying thing from England's point of view is Harmison's performance. I've heard a lot about the two younf fast bowlers (Jones and Harmison) turning Englan'ds bowling stocks around.

Harmison then comes out and at one stage bowls SEVEN consecutive wides during his 16 wides in 7 overs. Even Chris Matthews didn't manage seven consecutive wides.

The other thing is the number of players they've brought who are less than fully fit. Pretty bad policy I would have thought.

The fitness thing is shocking but I suppose the alternative palyers would have given us no chance rather than a slim one.

As for Harmisson I read that he banged his head fielding & was a bit 'dazed' so I may (grudgingly) give him the benefit of the doubt this time.
