Heading to the UK in late July/early august and taking in a few days of cricket at grounds I've not been to. If any of you have any tips on things around the grounds or at the grounds that are must see, post them below. Thanks!

I'm going to day one of Test at Trent Bridge v India- will join Lords, Edgbaston, Old Trafford, headingley and Sophia Gardens as Test grounds I have visited in England.

Also going to Taunton, Guildford (festival week match) and Scarborough (England Lions match.

Never been to any of those cities/towns- so any advice you guys have would be welcome.

Nottingham - Trent Bridge is like the silicon valley of the UK, not much of a nightlife but a nice place to visit. The guy who runs the Trent Bridge / Nottingham shop was a really nice guy - not sure if he's still there but I went on a warm up match prior to the season starting and he took me for a tour of all their facilities which were amazing.

Taunton is obviously in Somerset and very close to Bath which is well worth a look at. Taunton is a very small and quaint ground with the Millichamp & Hall workshop based at the ground which is well worth a look at if you are into bats.

I actually got into Gunn & Moore for a squizz by mistake - I rang up and enquired and they thought I was one of their contracted players. Upon arrival they realised I was just an Average Joe, but given I was an Aussie and drove all the way from Yorkshire and had professed to using their bats for twelve or so years they let me thru and even made a bat up for me which was great.

For me ome of the smaller grounds like Canterbury are just as good as the Test venues.

Enjoy.

Thanks- I will. Hope I get some time at the Nottingham shop, but being the opening day of the test, it will be nuts- I doubt I'll get much personal attention.

Have heard good things about Taunton- been to bath, so my real focus will be on the ground- it is an U-19 match I'll be at, so ought to be able to roam pretty easily and get a good look at things.

Been to canterbury- agree with you on that being a nice ground- I'm also very partial to new Road in Worcester.....

New Road looks like a wonderful cricket and boating facility
