Ooh, hell yeah. I was a bookworm as a kid (I still would be now if I had the time  ) and I have a whole bookshelf full of Enid Blyton books. I loved the Magic Faraway Tree, but without a doubt my favourites were actually the Malory Towers series, which I think I must have read a hundred times. :p

Re the political correctness thing, it was actually some of the creatures in the Faraway Tree - I think some of the evil ones who lived near the tree - can't remember clearly cause it's been awhile since I've read them - were changed to more 'friendly' characters. I don't remember exactly what the 'problem' with them was, possibly colour or race or something. Yeah, like kids could really pick that up. Wtf is it coming to these days?!

Oh how I wished I could go to boarding school on the Cornish coast with Darrell and the gang from Malory Towers... I had all the Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair books, all the Malory Towers Books, some of the Famous 5 books and Secret 7, Naughtiest Girl in School too- I think they're still around somewhere too.

I think Enid Blyton grew up in Cornwall or thereabouts, that's probably why she wrote so much about "evil" smugglers (Cornwall was notorious for its smuggling). And why all her books are set in SW England. Her books were probably edited for race reasons (the n-word), and of course the homosexual undertones, real or imagined, between Noddy and Big Ears.

My dad used to have all the unaltered Noddy books and he even had a Noddy hat complete with bell on the end!!! I wish he still had them, how I would **** myself laughing seeing Dad in a Noddy hat.

Did anyone get into Trixie Belden as well?? And Vlad the Drac? Oh and Where the Wild Things Are, Beast in the Bathtub, Muddle Headed Wombat and Michael Salmon's "monsters" series too...

I still have a heap of mine from when I was a kid... my favs were the Malory Towers and the St Claire's series, and the Naughtiest Girl series! But I have a heap of the Faraway Tree, the Wishing Chair and the various group ones (Famous Five, Five Find Outers, Secret Seven etc) She also did a few with "Adventure" in the title but they weren't as popular as the other ones

Anyone who wants to buy some, have a look on Ebay... you can get them at quite reasonable prices!
