Today's sliding doors - no one who is already at St Kilda is capable of improvement.

Yeah Steele, Sinclair, Billings, Gresh, Acres, Membrey and McCartin have all definitely peaked and maybe we should look at moving them on while they have some value...

Best get rid of White too just in case he shows something.

there are two types of journos ... the ones who the players and clubs respect and talk to knowing that they will report on what they see and what they are told.. then you get the other type the type who the players and the clubs dont trust at all the guys that the clubs only give prepared statements that are already common knowllege.... Barrett is a third type that sifts through the trash to find a possible slim chance link to his out there theorys ... the sea gulls at the MCG would have more insight into the going ons of our club than Damo would..

He's such a ******* worm!
That's a purple card for you Quixote!

1. No more 'encouragement' awards when it comes to Friday night footy

On 2018 standards, no more Carlton. No more St Kilda. Definitely no Bulldogs. This slot was once the pinnacle of football contest. It is a joke in 2018, and this is not a hindsight reflection, as we said it the moment the fixture was released last year. In trying to be everything to everyone, mediocre, undeserving clubs have infiltrated Friday night football. It is a reason for the current doom.

campaigner.

I actually agree with him in principle, but funny that he's bringing it up this year, when his hated clubs are doing it tough and not last year when North Melbourne were stinking up the league. Worm!

The rest of the points are all about making his job easier. Letting players wear what they want and say what they want of field, total media access to bench and q-time/3q-time huddle, etc.

Hey purple you dog, maybe consider hacks like you in the media and reflect on your role on the clubs becoming conservative and guarded. Think of all the paragraphs of bitchy snideness you and your brethren would create based on poor wardrobe/word choices of players and coaches.

And I'm happy for Friday night footy to go to deserving teams as long as you can predict which teams will be deserving from the season before. Good luck with that. Normally North are a safe bet to amongst the least deserving which just goes to show.

A crater faced pimple on the a-hole of humanity. Is the Purple flog Damo. Eric Cantona once famously quipped about journo's like Purple.....
Something about seagulls feeding of the Trawlers deeds. Barrett and feckwit colleagues like him represent everthing thats wrong
with journalism on the game these days!

Crap article. The nba is the nba, not sure why hutchy, Barrett et al are so enamoured in turning the afl into it.

Re injuries, sure can be frustrating for fans but prognostication is never exact and the players deserve some confidentiality around medical conditions, like other people.

Massive audience for this game:
Round 14, 2009, Etihad Stadium:
Geelong 13.7 (85) def by St Kilda 14.7 (91)
Both Geelong and St Kilda were undefeated going into the game, and a record crowd of more than 54,000 packed into Etihad Stadium to see it. The Saints kicked the first five goals and were still 23 points up early in the last quarter, before the Cats came storming home. Cameron Mooney bombed through a goal from 60m out, then Mathew Stokes levelled the scores. But St Kilda prevailed by six points after Michael Gardiner took a massive pack mark in the dying seconds, knocking out Harry Taylor in the process, and kicked a goal.
The Saints were the most watched club in 2009.
When the AFL stuffs it up, no one such as Purple goes out on a limb and says it is a poor fixture. They are happy to criticise in hindsight. If the AFL just gave everybody an even fixture this would not arise.
Starting the season with Richmond v Hawthorn, the ANZAC Day game and similar slant the fixture.
Just roll out something that lets us see players from every club. It will work.
No need to pick winners in ahead of the season
