One of the more frustrating issues is the different cultures between Olympic Sports and Aussie Rules.

Olympic Sports come from a culture where drug taking is normal and acceptable,whereas drug taking is around the margins of AFL.

There were records kept and ASADA has them. The problem is there wasn't enough checks and balances according to ASADA/WADA compliance. At least 10 other clubs had the same lack of checks and balances and they also would have been found to have poor governance but AFL could not afford to strip 10 clubs of draft picks and ban them form finals. Therefore, AFL went after Essendon and even made up evidence and lied to hide their lack of duty of care at the other clubs.

Those useless players can't adapt to James' fantastic game plan.
Most other coaches would adjust their game plan to maximise the talents of their players but James is so great (did you know he is a 3time ANZAC day medallist?) that the players must somehow get themselves better to be up to James' game plan level.
