How confident is everyone on this one?

I think we should win - we're a better side, and although we're not playing well we're due for a win.

Go Bombers!

Essendon should beat Geelong tomorrow night, especially when you look at the positions both teams are on the ladder. However, Geelong have absolutely nothing to lose from now on, so you just never know.

One thing's for sure... if we lose I'm gonna be hearing about it for the rest of the year. :p

We SHOULD win and MUST win to have a chance of the finals but then again we lost to Carlton.

Beware of the Cats.

If Alessio plays we should win by about 4 goals. If he is left out we will lose by about four goals. Hille cannot ruck against King for the whole game. How on Earth will Bolton compete against King? I like Bolton as a wingman/ rebounding defender but he is just not big enough for the ruck. Who else can fill in? Fletcher? Lucas?

Without Alessio I think the following events will occur:

* Hille beaten at the centre bounces for the first half but doing OK around the ground. Geelong to win early centre clearances before Hird is moved to the centre evening up the midfields.
* Hille to play the first half of the third quarter before being rested in a pocket or on the bench. Bolton to take over the ruck duties. Geelong start to dominate clearances and kick 5 unanswered goals. Midfield starts to look tired as they have not been rotated with Barnard, Reynolds and Watson spending all but 10 mins of the match on the bench
* Hille starts the last quarter in the ruck. Fletcher is moved forward as a "suprise" move.
* Essendon fight back to within 2 goals before one of our defenders gives away a stupid free kick, a 50m and a certain goal. Geelong put the icing on the cake kicking another goal after capitalising on a poor defensive decision.
* After the game the media label Essendon as slow/ finished etc. with few forward options.
* Cory McGrath BOG for Bendigo with Shane Harvey kicking 4 goals from the pocket.

I hope I am wrong.

and just think, you people wanted groaned when we re-drafted Alessio!

I think you're showing a huge lack of faith in our midfield. Even if King dominates in the ruck it doesn't instantly mean Geelong will win centre clearances. Johnson and Misiti haven't had a dominating ruckman to work off for the majority of the careers, they know how to read opposition taps.

Whoops! I missed the Harvey suspension. He will kick four in is first game back then.

Saying that we need Alessio to play is not a huge compliment to the performance of Alessio this year (he has been very good in some games, poor in others). We need a second ruckman to act as a backup to Hille. I don't believe that you can go into an AFL standard football game with one ruckman. There are different opinions on the impact that ruckmen have on games but surely it would be an advantage for our midfield if our ruckmen can give us first use of the ball. How many AFL teams pick only one ruckman to play?

I just don't know why McGrath doesn't get picked. He is a quick midfielder who has shown that he can kick goals. At the moment we haven't got many midfield players who can push forward and kick goals. Is there something wrong with his game that I am missing?

We won,
so that's all that matters!
Bring on the Saints...I'm pumped!!!

CARN THE BOMBERS!!!!!!
