Fixtures are expected to be released on Friday.

Nab Cup:

• Sunday, Feb 19 - Patersons - West Coast Eagles, Fremantle, Essendon - 4.45pm - Fox Sports.

• Saturday, Mar 3 - Wangaratta - Essendon vs. St Kilda - 7pm

• Friday, Mar 9 - Etihad Stadium - Essendon vs. Sydney Swans - 6.10pm - Fox Sports

How does the NAB Cup work? How do you get into the Grand Final? On percentage?

Yes, points and percentage. NAB Challenge games are a thing of the past.

What are your thoughts people on NAB cup schedule.

1st week we play 2 mini games in Perth against West Coast and Fremantle.

2nd week a full game against Saints

3rd week home game against Sydney.

Win/lose, any experience playing over in Perth is good.

Interesting we have a rural game that's not on Fox.

Only the final is shown on Seven.

Perth against WCE coming off a top 4 year and Fremantle with tonnes of talent and a new coach who will have them firing. Will be tough to snag a win here.

In another marquee match, set to become official when the league releases the fixture on Friday, GWS coach Kevin Sheedy will coach against his old team Essendon in Round 9.

The only home and away meeting between the clubs has been slotted in for Sydney, allowing the AFL to promote the Sheedy v Bombers clash heavily in a rugby league-dominated market.

My bad, I didnt realise the season preview thread included NAB cup info. Please merge this thread moderators into the other thread....

P.S. I hope we dont get through to final, i'd prefer we have the extra rest if it means an extra win or two in H&A season.

Having West Coast and Freo first week in mini games could be a blessing in disguise.

I must admit I was very surprised when I saw that we weren't playing GWS twice. I thought the AFL would have played the Hird vs Sheedy card and built it up

Would highly doubt they would schedule us a couple of NAB cup games there then make us travel back twice over the home and away season.

For the stuff of it though, why not 6. We Finish 3rd, WCE finish 2nd, Freo finish 1st. Loose to WCE in a qualifying final, win the following week then loose to Freo in the prelim...

Teams that ony played GC once in 2011 should have been drawn to play GWS twice in 2012 or 2 games against GC at the very least.

There wouldn't be enough matches to go around.
Every team should play each other once and 5 teams a second time (17+5=22).

I'd be pretty annoyed if any of the 6 who played GC twice (Adel, Bris, Geel, Haw, Melb, WB) get GWS twice this year.

Really, I think it should work out as 6 played GC twice, another 5 get them twice this year, and 5 get GWS twice;
which would only leave 2 (probably the WA sides given how long the road trip is) that hadn't.
(Have i made an error not considering GC & GWS playing each other twice? Hmm)

M understanding was that the AFL has specifically said no one will be drawn to play both GC and GWS twice..

So melb got gc twice last year and get gws twice this year. Hmm that's fair???

Will laugh so hard at them when they don't make the finals.

The afl have become a joke, it's all about the money and not what's fair for each club.

Top 5 teams from 2011 - Cats, Pies, Hawks, Eagles, Blues - will each only play expansion teams Suns and Giants one time each.
