This thread is stupid. All you are doing is naming young people in our team and putting them in their poitions. In reality, there will be some young guys on our list his year that wont be there next year, let alone for our next flag.

And shame on all you people putting Daniel Rich/Michael Hurley in the team. Its only round 6 and there are already numerous doomsayers. Now I know what people are on about when they call Essendon a bandwagon team

Where are we ranked on the Victorian clubs memship list? What supporters don't bag their players when they, not all, are shit? If you want bandwagon supporters take a look at the Geelong board, I didn't think I knew a Geelong supporter until they won the flag... now i'd swear they have more supporters than Essendon and Collingwood combined!!! ;)

Im not talking about memberships. Its just as if we are so used to winning that now we are losing, its something different to talk about, and people enjoy doing it. One person mentions that we are gone for the year and everyone jumps on board. Well I for 1 will not write us off until its a mathematical impossibility that we cant make the finals. For every negative that has happened this year, there has ben a positive, yet no one choses to talk about that because it is less controversial and therefore less exciting.

Houli, Ryder, McVeigh, Dempsey and Jetta have been a shining light this year. McVeigh was close to leading the brownlow votes before he succumbed to his injury... keep the good work up Macca! :thumbsu:

Courtney Johns, Andrew Lee, Jason Johnson, Brent Stanton, Andrew Welsh and Jobe Watson have shown us nothing, had poor dsposal, are over the hill or can't get on the park, very disappointing!

Yeah, you're right, it's much more exciting to bag than to pump up! :D:D:D

Im disagreeing with that. I love to think of the positives but I dont think some others on here feel the same way.

McVeigh should be our captain now. In all honesty that side wouldnt even play Finals let alone a flag.

Dyson - Not good Enough
Watson - Wont Improve
Hille - Same as Watson
Stanton - SHOULD get his marching orders at season's end
Winderlich - Same as Dyson

For the club to even consider even making a GF there's going to have to be another clean out cos atm we have a bunch of lazy, uncoordinated, dumb footballers in the team! I dont want us to become another Richmond who have clean outs & rebuild every 3 years due to poor recruiting & drafting.

Great bloody supporter you are.

2011 Premiership Team

FB: Kyle Reimers Tayte Pears Jay Nash
HB: David Myers Patrick Ryder Adam Mcphee
C: Jason Winderlich Sam Lonergan Courtenay Dempsey
HF: Darcy Daniher Scott Gumbleton Jobe Watson
FF: Alwyn Davey Jay Neagle Leroy Jetta
FOLL: David Hille Bachar Houli Tom Hislop
INT: Andrew Lovett Mark McVeigh Brent Stanton Tom Bellchambers

Probably not the point of this positively focused post, but the problem for me with this team (or any of the teams) is that there are only 7 players in this team who have actually shown that they have made it at AFL level and will be around for many years at EFC (not sure if Houli has proven this consistently enough yet - and may be harsh on McPhee). Of course, the whole point of the post is hoping for the development of all those other players not in bold. But for me, 7 is not enough for a core group for a tilt in 2011, especially when many of the players not highlighted have been around a while. But exciting seeing some of those other names like Jetta, Myers, Daniher etc. For me, it is all dependent on the development of these younger players - not reliance on our 23+ to get better.

McPhee hasnt made it? He has won a B&F and he is an AA. He is more decorated than every other player in that bolded list.

Just found this thread, looks like fun so thought I'd have a go!! How poeple's opinions will have changed on some of the players since last time!!

B: Pears, ???, McVeigh
HB: Dempsey, Ryder, Reimers
C: Stanton, Watson, Houli
HF: Jetta, Gumbleton, Davey
F: ???, Neagle, Lovett
Foll: Hille, Myers, ???

Int: ???, Hislop, Lonergan, ???

I decided to move McVeigh to the BP so he can shut down the dangerous smalls and by then our younger mids should be up to the task.
For the fullback I'd have Hurley but obviously we havn't drafted him yet so didn't put him in there, as far as the forward pocket goes, 1 of Daniher, Monfries, Hooker or McPhee would be in there and if it was Monfries or McPhee then we could move Jetta into the forward pocket and play them on the HFF.
The last follower I'd love it to be Kane Lucas but in any case we wouldn't be able to draft him until next year so maybe move Hislop or Lonergan to there with Hocking or Welsh to move onto the bench.
The 2 spots on the bench, for 1 of them I'd like to draft Stephen Hill, Walters, Robinson, Blease, Zaharakis or DeBoer so they could take 1 spot and for the other spot I'd probably have Bellchambers unless Laycock majorly improves or we draft another ruckman who shows more than Bellchambers.

I like it!!:D
