Seriously, what the hell were the Grollos thinking here. What an average, blocky boring piece of over-stated Greek phallically.

Im even wondering how the Grollos managed to get this up seeing they cant compute simple figures. They claim Eureka is the World's Tallest Residential Tower, yet its over 22 metres shorter than the Gold Coast's elegant Q1 building.

How's that work:confused:

Ugly builders, ugly tower,... ugly town.

There I said it!

I dunno, the Q1 looks pretty elegant...

Nothing as elegant as steel and glass sticking up twice as high as the nearest building on beautiful beach from real estate.

They're both ****e.

Dude, I have to disagree, the Eureka Tower rules! It's one of my favourite buildings.

Have you actually seen it live, not just in photo's? It's an exquisite piece of work. It looks completely different from any angle you look at it from. It reflects the light in a multitude of ways. It's form is magnificent, twisting, soaring.

I'm a big Eureka fan, I reckon it's awesome :thumbsu:

I hear ya. I have a mate who lives on the 20th floor of a building almost right next to teh Q1.. we sit on the balcony smoking cones and just stare up at it and wonder whether they took King Tides into consideration when building something so big next to the beach.

One day most of teh GC will be under water, and its probably soon. Been a good 30 years since they had a massive king tide, but it will happen again:D

hehe, mate I love it, as you can obviously gather. I've seriously never seen anything like it that looks so different from different angles.

It's one of my all-time favourite buildings. There, I've said it! :o

Well Lance, apart from Essendon you usually demonstrate great class and wisdom in all things, so perhaps I will have to hold my thoughts on Eureka until I can get to view it with my own 1.89 eyes (vision is slowly deteriorating, left eye..slightly bunged).

Nah I never actually had them. There was a story i heard about a dude on Shooms years ago, he felt so powerful and tough that he thought he'd test his strength by standing on train-tracks and stopping a speeding locomotive in its tracks.

now it's probably urban legend, but it kind of made me steer away from them... although having said that, I reckon Id give it a go if someone who knew what they were doing brewed me up a broth:p

I catch the train everyday into the city, and I happen to stare at it atleast more than a minute every day. Whether waiting for the trains to arrive at Flinders St (on the platform or train itself), and heading into Richmond station.

I personally think it is a good looking tower, not as good as the Q1, as that is pretty elegant, however, it is now a feature of the greatest city in the world.

I am pretty sure Grollo want to still add a finishing touch, being a spire on the top of the Eureka, giving it the edge over Q1. Inevitably, it won't be the biggest residential tower in the world, as they get beaten all the time, but still, Australia ;)

Maybe it's just me, but I don't believe putting a 3 metre TV antenna on my single storey house makes it taller than the 2 storey joint next door. ;)

Agree with that Lance

The Eureka looks much, much better in real life. Its shape is great because it always looks different from another angle.

Seems most who've actually viewed it with their own goggles think its a pretty unique and attractive piece of architecture, so Im willing to admit I may have jumped the gun and got it wrong here.,, But I'll definitley be casting an eye over it when its within the dicinemascope.

From one angle, from the river, it looks really thin - like a shard. Fairly impressive.

I also think its a masterpiece. A great addition to the Melbourne skyline. Some people hate these skyscrapers but i love them. They make the city... Well the city!

I am happy to live in such a great state that i can travel not too far to see nature at its best and beautiful scenery, and being able to come back to an increasingly better looking city...

I open my bedroom blinds in the morning, and its only about 800 metres away from me in straight line. Not bad seeing that with the city in the background first thing in the morning.
