So we beat Fulham 3-1 at home after a strong first half performance and face Charlton away. This game is as crucial as any as it will put us in a strong position ahead of our match with Liverpool on Saturday.

I can see six points in the bag from those two games, which in all likeliness will take us to our top four place where in all likeliness we'll stay for the remainder of this season :D

Our midfield needs strengthening, Sean Davis has failed a medical but we really should be looking for a creative solution like Anders Svensson, Enzo Maresca or Marco Bresciano. How cool would that be- someone to link up with Radzinski and Rooney, torment Man United and Liverpool at will and possibly bring us the glory!

Woohoo another Toffee on BigFooty! It was a very good win on the weekend. Hopefully we can get a good result against Charlton, but I'm not overly confident. Our midfield just isn't good enough at this stage to really get anywhere.

Use will have to settle for a draw, this result just provides more evidence that you lack some real dangerous midfield drive.
Poor bloody strikers have shocking delievery :p, this is a game if Everton want to take the next step needed to control!!!!

Who do you think we should sign to address our problems in midfield? I've already mentioned Svensson, Maresca and Bresciano because I think any of them would be perfect for us.

Amazingly one of our unsung heros since joining us has been Steve Watson- he can play ANYWHERE and hardly if ever lets us down. He's already got 2 goals to his credit this season

After posting I saw that we drew 2-2, with another wonder goal from the Roonster. I should have just bloody read what people wrote on this thread properly!

Yeah Watson's been pretty handy. I'm quite a fan of his. He, Gemill and Pembo are workmanlike though, so we need a bit of class in the middle. The ones you suggested sound good...hopefully we'll get Davis when the transfer window reopens, if he can pass the medical then. I'm not sure who else is available really.

2-2 - Plain and simple, we wuz robbed!

Both penalties were dubious at best, but we've already give away three this season and that's not a good sign.

I'm absolutely devastated that we didn't get Davis in time for the Transfer Window, but we'll get him in January, no doubt about it. He's still on the transfer list, and I know Fulham supporters are filthy on him. Only a few more months Sean!

However, it looks like Gravesen and Linderoth have clicked as a central midfield pairing. Tobias has been brilliant so far this year, and Grav has looked great before dropping out with injury.

The Duke bagged another last night, I'm wrapt for the big fella! Plain and simple, if he can score in the Derby, we've had a big chance.

I wish we could have signed McManaman on a free and Jeffers on a loan, but it's not going to happen.

Still, things are looking up on Merseyside for the Blues. The lads at www.bluekipper.com are downright chuffed with our fighting spirit, something they haven't seen in ages. Neither have I. If we can get a win against the Reds this week, then it will really set up our season.

Another toffee here...

I wouldve loved to have Sean Davis but we'll try again in january I think when hes fully fit.

Moyes said on sky sports after the game tonight that hes put in another offer for Barry Ferguson so we'll see what happens.

Linderoth has underachieved at Everton, and its good to see him showing his worth because quite a few clubs exspecially in Serie A wanted him after his world cup showing.

I think Watson is a guy who can take Everton the next step. He is young and shows leadership ability on the field, the guys loves pressure.
He has a great pass and the shot on goal which will improve has been OK, but i think his greatest assest is his tackling and marking.
Wouldnt be suprised if he was to mark players in the midfield like Veron and Scholes.
Id like Everton to chase a bigger name someone with a little star quality, thats why i was suprised they didnt put in a strong bid got Lee Bowyer he would have fit in nicely.
Im thinking some South American Spark :D :D with some experience and someone with price range maybe Simone from Lazio.

cheers

Bresciano is desperately needed at Parma this season, now that Inter has bought Lamouchi, and Mutu has gone to Chelsea, who did a lot of work up the pitch.

It's very hearting to see a sizeable contingent of fellow Everton fans on here. Our fans are simply amazing, quite possibly the best on the world! We're a real community and not a bunch of glory-hunters or teenybopper girls :p

Some good news on our bid to sign Barry Ferguson

- Apparently Blackburn have dropped out of the equation

Weve put in a 6 million pound bid, which propably wont be enough, but I heard someone say Everton were offering to cancel part of the Michael Ball transfer which meant when Ball reaches a certain number of games in a rangers shirt, Rangers have to give the toffee's 2.5 mil pounds.

I dont think were going to get Mcmanaman, I think Moyes was trying to get Big duncs and Nyarko's wages off the books first but he hasnt been able to.

I really like Sean Davis, although we need attacking midfielders hes perfect at sitting just infront of the defence and reading the play and winning posession for his team.

Speaking of Ball, why did we ever sell him, hopefully he and Franny return to Goodison again 1 day.

I also agree we need a south american type spark in the midfield.. Andres D'Allesandro wouldve been nice!

Great to see there are a few Evertonians here. :) Last season it was just me and evertonfc, from what I can remember (correct me if I'm wrong).

Good thing we sold Ball, cos his knee's farked. Largely thanks to Walter Smith and Archie Knox..... I've got his name and number on the back of the shirt we wore in 1997-99 (or whatever it was). :(

Good to see Linderoth finally getting a run. It'd be nice if Gravesen has finally come good too. He was a waste of space last year.

Which EFC sites do you guys go to? I always check www.toffeeweb.com.

Yea I always goto toffeeweb.com aswell

Im waiting for the Barry Ferguson outcome... I must admit I havent been this excited about a potential signing for a long long time... hes a perfect fit for this team! Please Moyesiah get Fergie to sign on the dotted line!

On the Barry Ferguson bid.

You have offered us 6 million pounds, Rangers have rejected that bid. Blackburn have since made a 7 million pound bid which was also rejected. Rangers won't sell for less than 8 million pound and if need be could hold on for what his release fee in his contract is - 12 million pound.

The stuff about Michael Ball is that we do have some of the fee outstanding and that relates to games played. When he plays 25 league matches for Rangers about 500,000 pound is due, the rest was cancelled I believe under terms of the deal, that if he missed a set amount of football we wouldn't owe a cent. He played 3 or 4 matches for us in 2001 just after he signed for us, then missed the next 18 months with the knee injury he had at Everton before signing. Has just comeback for the start of the season and is going great guns. the knee is healed and he has replaced Numan very well and has been one of our best so far this season

I would like to see Barry at Everton but its unlikely because you just don't have the cash needed for us to part with him

Latest news

Blackburn will sign Barry Ferguson on a reported 4 year deal after agreeing a 7.5 million pound deal with Rangers overnight.

His salary is also like 38000 a week where Everton's limit is just 20000.

Blackburns bid includes 6 million upfront, where we wanted to pay in installments.

Ahh well good signing for Blackburn.

How the hell are the toffees going to hang onto Rooney at the end of the season??? 20k a week is the most maximum, that is a killer.
Everton will have to increase that in the coming season if they want to hold onto the likes of Rooney and Watson.

Rooney's an Evertonian, so he's going nowhere. Like a real Evertonian, he realises how lucky he is to be at the club.

So you take the opportunity to take a dig at us Evertonians as always?

But unfortunately that's been the style of Liverpool "fans" in recent years, they like taking swipes at just about everybody especially when they can't handle the truth. One game is NOT the end all for either side you know!
